A little edge can change everything.

Edge profiles aren’t limited to the hearth. They can be incorporated throughout a mantel—from the shelf and returns to the plinths, inner moldings, and surrounding details.

A bullnose can soften a transition and create a more sculpted, contoured edge. Beveled profiles introduce crisp shadow lines and architectural definition. An ogee shelf feels refined and elegant, drawing inspiration from traditional millwork and classical detailing.

While often subtle, these details influence how light interacts with the stone and contribute significantly to the overall character of a fireplace.

It’s a reminder that thoughtful design is often found in the details.

Which edge profile is your favorite?

May moments in Marble.

A few glimpses of mantels recently completed in production, along with others that have found their way to the construction site and into their new homes.

Mantel House is not for everyone.

We’re for homeowners, architects, designers, and builders who value timeless natural stone, thoughtful restraint, historical nuance, and a more personal, highly specialized approach to fireplace design.

As a small, founder-led studio, we intentionally remain selective in both the projects we take on and the way we work. We value craftsmanship, proportion, guidance, and architectural integrity over scale.

If the ideas throughout these slides resonate with you, we invite you to fill out an inquiry form through our website to begin a conversation.

For nearly two centuries, the 1835 Farmhouse overlooking Aurora, New York remained the final major historic structure on the campus left untouched.

Now thoughtfully restored and expanded by , the Farmhouse has been reimagined as the property’s most luxurious and wellness-focused accommodation to date, balancing historic preservation.

For the dining area and premiere guest suites, Mantel House created a series of fireplaces inspired by early 19th century Federal style design. Mantel House reproduced both mantels from antique originals: one based on an antique Federal mantel from the Mantel House archive and fabricated in Carrara marble, and the other developed from one of the property’s existing antique fireplace structures in richly veined Portoro marble. Both were thoughtfully adapted for modern gas inserts.

We’ve always been drawn to the seashell.

There is a reason it’s collected,
and has adorned fireplace friezes for centuries.

Across time, it has carried a quiet language into architecture through its curves and perfect geometry.

Each of our mantels holds its own presence,
shaped for a certain kind of space and experience.

Some lean traditional. Some romantic. Others clean and modern.

Delphine sits in between, with restrained ornament.

A sense of story, held in stone.

It can evoke a place you’ve been—
or one you’ve imagined.

A carved stone mantel in a Pilates studio.

When Sydney Dumler created the newest studio in Franklin, Tennessee, she envisioned something closer to a luxury hospitality experience than a traditional gym—where light, materials, scent, and architecture shape how people feel the moment they walk in.

At the center of the studio sits this carved marble mantel we sourced and restored from New York City, 1852. Its floral ornament brings an unexpected layer of craftsmanship to an otherwise newly built, minimal wellness space.

Imagine moving through a class on the reformer, your eye resting on the gentle curves of the stone — a quiet detail grounding the space while the body moves in flow.

I especially love seeing mantels in environments like this, where many people can experience the beauty and artistry of the stone.

More hospitality and commercial spaces to share soon.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about foundations.

Foundations aren’t temporary.
They’re what everything else rests on.
Good foundations ask you to choose carefully — because they stay.

Not filling a room quickly,
but starting with what holds it together.

The mantel as the architectural anchor.
Lighting as mood and atmosphere, designed in collaboration with

Lighting was layered intentionally:
overhead and button lights to support the architecture and bookshelves,
and fabric sconces to add softness, warmth, and intimacy.

When the foundation is strong, there’s no need to overfill the room.

Everything else is a layer.

The Workshop Chapter

When I signed this lease in July 2022, I had no idea what would take shape inside these walls. It was the first real commercial home Mantel House ever had after starting in my backyard, then a series of storage units.

This space became a refuge for salvaged mantels, a place where neglected stone was restored, reimagined, and given a second life. It became a home for client introductions, learning, tactility, repair, and so many transformations.

And now, it’s time for the next chapter.

Mantel House is evolving.
I’m shifting fully into custom commissions — work rooted in co-creation, innovation, and thoughtful client care. This new model creates more space for intentional design, deeper client partnership, and the kind of tailored work I love most. It also means workshop visits and on-site antique browsing will no longer be available. We’ve sold through our antique inventory, and the business is now entirely focused on custom commissions.

It feels bittersweet, but right and full of possibility.

Thank you for being part of the life of this little workshop.
