We were honored to be called upon to demonstrate infant CPR at the Annual Citywide Baby Shower, hosted by
DC Paid Family Leave and Mayor .

Hundreds of new and expecting families stopped by our booth throughout the day asking questions, practicing on CPR dolls, and learning skills that could one day save their baby’s life.

This is what we’re here for. Not just to teach CPR, but to build confidence. To remove fear. To make sure every parent walks away knowing they’re prepared for the moments that matter most.

Thank you to DC Paid Family Leave and the Mayor’s Office for creating a space where families can access resources, education, and community support all in one place. And thank you to every parent who took the time to stop, learn, and ask questions. You showed up for your families, and that matters.
This is the work we’re proud to do. This is the impact we’re here to make.

If you weren’t able to make it to the event and want to learn infant CPR, we offer classes throughout the DMV. Link in bio.

Every parent who walks into our class says the same thing
“I just don’t want to panic if something happens.”

And we get it.

The thought of your baby choking or not breathing is terrifying.

Most of us push that fear down and hope we never need to use it.

But hope isn’t a plan.

In just a few hours, you’ll learn exactly what to do, practice it with real feedback, ask every question you’ve been afraid to ask and walk out feeling like a completely different parent.
Not anxious. Not overwhelmed.
Capable. Confident. Ready.

💙 Because the best thing you can do for your baby is be prepared.

We have a few spots open for our new born care CPR class in on June 14. Sign up now link in bio

Knowing what to do if your baby is choking or unresponsive is one of the most important skills you’ll ever learn as a parent.
But watching a YouTube video once isn’t the same as actually practicing it.

Inside this class, you’ll learn the skills, get hands-on feedback, ask every question you have so if you ever need it, your hands already know what to do.

Because in that moment, you won’t have time to think. You’ll just need to act.

This is where you get ready. 💙

You can’t predict when an emergency will happen. But you can be ready for it.

Knowing what to do if your baby is choking. How to perform CPR if they stop breathing. When to call 911 and when to act first. Those skills don’t just sit in the back of your mind — they give you calm in the moment when panic wants to take over.
The truth is, most parents will never need to use infant CPR. But the ones who do will tell you it changes everything. And the ones who don’t? They still say the same thing — just knowing they could handle it makes them feel more confident as a parent.

That confidence is priceless.

Our next Infant CPR & Newborn Care class is coming up. Small group. Hands-on practice. American Red Cross certified. You’ll leave with knowledge and the skills that actually matter.

Because being prepared isn’t about living in fear. It’s about living with peace of mind.

Labor is intense. And if you’re the support person, it can feel like you’re standing on the sidelines watching someone you love go through something you can’t fix.

But here’s the thing — you’re not supposed to fix it. You’re supposed to be their steady ground when everything else feels like it’s shifting.

Here are 5 ways to actually help:

1. Protect their space.
Dim the lights. Limit visitors. Keep voices low. If medical staff is being loud or intrusive, redirect them. Your job is to create the environment your partner needs to focus inward. They shouldn’t have to manage the room — that’s on you.

2. Remind them they’re doing it.
Not with big motivational speeches. Just quiet, grounded reassurance. “You’re handling this.” “That was a strong one, and you got through it.” Labor messes with their sense of time and progress. Your voice becomes their anchor to what’s real.

3. Offer physical support without asking.
Counterpressure on their lower back. A cool washcloth on their neck. Ice chips. Your hand to squeeze. Don’t wait for them to ask — read the room and offer. If they don’t want it, they’ll tell you. But most of the time, they won’t have the bandwidth to ask.

4. Be their voice when they can’t be.
Labor is not the time for them to negotiate or make decisions under pressure. You know their birth plan. You ask the clarifying questions. You speak up when something doesn’t feel right. You advocate so they don’t have to.

5. Stay present, even when it’s hard.
Labor can last hours. It’s exhausting to witness. But checking your phone, pacing the hall, or mentally checking out sends a message. Stay close. Stay engaged. Your presence matters more than you think.
You don’t need to have all the answers. You just need to show up and stay.

Save this if you’re supporting someone through birth. Share with your partner if you want them to see this before the big day.
