I'm a native Washingtonian. I have a passion for sewing and crafting. Don't laugh, but I dream in Fabric and ALL THINGS COLOR! I get chills when I see Collections of Fabrics, a Handmade Quilt, Unique Bags and Mixed Media. My love of sewing started in a Junior High School Home Economics class. I was a natural and did quite well! (I know right giving myself Kudos!)
Eventually, my mom bought me a Ke
nmore Sewing Machine. I made everything on this machine from an Easter inspired pant suit with bunny rabbits as the print, complete with headband and platform shoes, to a silk gown for High School Prom. When I was 14 years old, I got my first summer youth job at a sewing shop making $2.65 per hour. I also discovered G Street Fabrics on 9th Street in Washington D.C., which is now located in Rockville, Maryland. My sewing machine traveled with me to college to get a degree in Sociology/Urban Studies from Oberlin College. I graduated and my sewing machine continued its journey with me to a one bedroom apartment where I constructed my Wedding Gown and many other garments! This has been a 40 year journey. I have since learned quilting, machine embroidering, home decorating and bookmaking. All of these things and more, have led me to where I am today...Teaching, Sewing and Crafting. At A Special Lee Sewing & Craft Cafe, I am focused on providing my services with the highest levels of customer satisfaction & I will do everything I can to meet your expectations.
