Modern concepts with an ethnic flair. Responsible eco-friendly construction. Original work hand-crafted by artisans. at mirasa we feel strongly about giving back. I contribute a portion of all proceeds to Girls' Education in India through Room to Read. This is mirasa design. In Hindi, the word mirasa means heritage. Taking its cue from the heritage of textile designer and mirasa founder Aashumi Sh
ah, mirasa products incorporate the colors of the Indian landscape and traditional kantha and ari style embroidery. mirasa design was incorporated in 2009 and launched online by Aashumi Shah in 2010. Aashumi is an experienced textile designer who formerly designed quilts and linens for the home. When her niece, Atia, turned one, she made some soft toys with tactile elements to stimulate Atia’s sense of imagination and play. Watching her play with these toys inspired Aashumi to produce mirasa design’s My Fun line for infants and toddlers. My Fun looks at the world through the eyes of a curious child. Building on the dual theories that tactile stimulation is crucial for infant development and that child-directed pretend play helps develop children’s early cognitive development, My Fun simply gives children a platform to make up their own play. The colors are intentionally unconventional, because a child’s world goes beyond pink and blue. And, you can feel even better about My Fun because all My Fun products are produced using fair trade practices and are eco-friendly—made from 100% cotton, filled with polyfill and using Azo free dyes. mirasa design is truly a product of Aashumi’s heritage, which believes firmly in giving back what was given to you. As a result of Aashumi’s passion for giving back, a portion of the proceeds from all My Fun purchases will go to Room to Read. Your purchase will contribute to Room to Read’s girls’ education program and the reading room program in India.
