It’s Fashion Friday friends! It’s our time to highlight things happening in the fashion and sustainability world, products we love, new ideas, style suggestions, trends to watch, and anything else highlight worthy we can think of! Today we are shining the spotlight on Nordstrom. Fun fact: I worked for Nordstrom several years ago when I needed a break from teaching. I started in the handbag department and then worked in Human Resources conducting interviews and new hire training. I loved it!
Nordstrom recently introduced BeautyCycle, their new recycling program. You can now drop off your empty beauty product containers (that your local recycling service can’t do anything with) so that they can be recycled. This happens through their partnership with . In true Nordy fashion, it doesn’t matter where you purchased the beauty product from. They will take what you bring as long as it’s on the list of things they can accept. Swipe to see. The issues of the environment and climate change are complex. But if we all make small changes we can have a huge impact. Reduce waste in whatever ways you can. And please recycle. It matters.

When I was a high school fashion marketing teacher, I started a club called the Fashion Ambassadors. It was for students who were interested in using fashion for good, to support causes such as sustainability and fair trade. We hosted a Clothing Swap to encourage students to clear their closets of items they weren’t wearing and promote the idea of consuming less fast fashion and thinking more sustainably. The first year the swap wasn’t so popular. But by the 2nd year it was POPPING! My classroom was transformed into a little sustainable fashion boutique. The irony! 🙃
I loved seeing all of my young fashion lovers learning and embracing the importance of shopping smarter. It is important to teach the next generation about the many ways they can be more eco-conscious with their spending. The issues are complex. But if we all make small changes we can make a huge difference.

Today my bestie reminded me that it’s . Of all the things I’ve accomplished, one of the things I’m most proud of is being a teacher. Having the opportunity to shape and influence the lives of young people is an amazing gift that God doesn’t give to everyone. We’re a special group. My classroom years were 15 years well spent.
Although I’m no longer in the classroom, teaching is in my DNA so I’ll always teach in some capacity. For this season, I’m teaching you about sustainable fashion, what it means to be a more conscious consumer, and how to build a wardrobe you love...while helping save the planet. 🤓

I am Ericka. I’m a wife and mom of 4 kids (3 girls, 1 boy). I spent 15 years as a teacher - 4 yrs teaching K-1st, 11 yrs teaching high school Fashion Marketing. I now run Pulchritude full-time. I’m launching another business in January 2021 (follow 😬).

I know I know! I am fully aware that many of us are in a “professional on top - pjs on bottom” season. Work pants? What are those?! 🤪 Nevertheless, for those of you who are still getting fully dressed for work, or who just need new pants, let me introduce you to the “Marisa” pant.
