It’s closing time.
For years I have been posting what some would call my cringe worthy outfit of the day videos and photos. Since 2013, I have loved putting together fun and unique outfits as my style has evolved, and I always wanted to share that love with others.
When I decided to take that passion further and open a boutique, it felt like the next natural step. The name Goth Dang It came to us in a way that felt like confirmation. My grandmother came up with the name while she was in the hospital. Around the same time, I told someone I wanted to open a boutique, and they said they had a dream that it was named Goth Dang It. With those moments lining up, it felt like we were supposed to do this. And so, we did.
For two and a half years, Goth Dang It has been a ride. This time last year, we closed our storefront because sales were nonexistent and pivoted to online only. But online tanked, too. So we reopened the storefront, hoping it would help, but the truth is it hasn’t. Since April, not a single month has been profitable. Every bill has been paid from my personal pocket. What was meant to be a business has become a financial, emotional, and mental drain.
Back in June, I told myself: ninety days. If things didn’t turn around by October, I’d have to make the hard call. Well, here we are, and I can’t keep pouring into something that isn’t sustainable. Not when I have other businesses my true passions that light me up and actually support my family: salon ownership, spray tans, and personal training. Helping women feel confident in their own skin will always be what I’m meant to do.
So today, I’m announcing that Goth Dang It is closing. October 1 will mark the end of this chapter.
To every single person who has supported this boutique,by shopping, sharing, liking, commenting you’ve meant the world to me. You turned customers into friends, and that’s something I’ll never forget.
This is not necessarily goodbye forever. I’ll always hold the name, the license, the website, and the socials. Maybe one day Goth Dang It will rise again in a way that makes sense. But for now, it’s time to let it go.
Starting today, all inventory is 35 percent off. Nothing will be restocked. Once it is gone, it is gone for good. We will continue with the in store sale this Thursday and Friday, also at 35 percent off. Over the coming weeks, discounts will increase until everything is cleared out. Eventually, all remaining items will be slashed to half off. Everything has to go.
Thank you for the last two and a half years. Thank you for being part of Goth Dang It. And thank you for supporting me as I step fully back into the businesses and the passions that I know I am meant to pour into.
If you take nothing else from this, take this, support small and shop local before there is no small and local left! This is NOT a failure and before you pop off with gossip and drama just know you’re wrong, I tried, I succeeded, I gave women with a different approach to fashion an option and an outlet. I’m an entrepreneur and a businesswoman with heart,just because you’re passionate about something and you try and it doesn’t work out, doesn’t mean it was a failure. It was a lesson.
Now I get to continue my passion for fashion with no pressure for sales. I get to enjoy it again. I get to shop other small businesses and support them.
