On a random Sunday evening in August of 2008, a couple friends and I were out having a few drinks at a local brewery in southern Maine. Just like every other Sunday, we started complaining about the upcoming week and how difficult it was going back to work, especially after such a perfect weekend. After we complained for about 5 minutes and contemplated setting up a tiki bar in the Carribean, we r
ealized that we were too young to retire. Suddenly, it crossed my mind that it was only Sunday night and the weekend was not over. I said, "Guys, let's stop complaining, it's still the weekend!"
The three of us looked at each other, smiled, and toasted to the weekend. The drinks kept flowing because it was "still the weekend". Every Sunday night, from then on, I used the phrase "it's still the weekend" on every social networking site that I belong to and posted it everywhere. The following summer, as a joke, I made a tee shirt that said "it's still the weekend" and wore it to that same brewery. I started giving shirts to my friends and relatives who really enjoyed them. They love weekends! Others began asking for orders. I added a few fun designs to go along with "it's still the weekend " that reminded everyone of their favorite weekend activities and getaways. After about a year, I wanted to sell more shirts, but wanted to keep the "weekend" theme. I trademarked "it's still the weekend" and "it's always the weekend" and started inserting our favorite things or places. In October of 2010, www.weekendthreads.com was built to accomodate those who love "weekend" clothing. We launched our website. My philosophy is a state of mind where we enjoy weekends to the fullest. When you wear a "weekend" tee, you maximize your enjoyment and realize that whenever you wear the tee, "it's always the weekend".
