From Passion to Business:

Having learned to sew at an early age from my Mom, both Grandmothers and a wonderful Home Ec teacher in HS, I fell in love with the process of sewing and creating! During my Sophomore year in HS I took the opportunity to create my first garment for someone else, my cousin who was just over a year old at the time became my first model! Each year the Home Ec Classes put on

a Spring Fashion show and we got to model our garments from clothing construction and my cousin Junnae was brought to the event, when she had the dress/outfit on her first words were “Pretty”, I was hooked and fell in love with sewing for other people right then. I have continued to sew from that point on through college and through the years since, creating everything from Wedding gowns, Prom Dresses, Hunting coats, Western Wear, Costumes, you name it, just about anything that can be stitched. This used to be my hobby that I did on the evenings and weekends, upon losing my full-time corporate job after 24 years, I decided to turn what I love to do into a business, sharing my given talent with others. In the last two years I have added machine embroidery, where we can create your personalized coats, hats, bags, sporting equipment, etc. When creating the business Customs by Carolyn, the process of Digital Heat Transfer / Vinyl screen printing was also added.

2025….What a year, so blessed to do what I love, and love what I do! So many amazing clients came through my door this past year from bridal and formal wear both alterations and design/new construction, to some amazing embroidery requests and as always supporting other businesses with their wearables! Every client becomes family to me. We’ve hit the ground running in 2026 and prom season is ramping up! Thank you for your support of my small business and look forward to helping create your visions in 2026!

Masquerade!!! This was a fun/challenging outfit for a return client! She always brings such enthusiasm to our projects, love working with her!

This gorgeous burgundy taffeta with black stoned motif on the bodice were stunning together, the eyelash lace on the skirt combined with the ruffles gave so much glamour to the outfit! Lace choker complimented so well! Paired with her mask and lace elbow godet gloves!!!

Have been so thrilled to receive these pictures from Michelle!!! This is a custom gown I made from her vision, using 4 different pictures she brought to our initial meeting! The fit and flare shilouette was meant to be her reception/second dress, but she felt amazing in the long train with horsehair layers that she wore the ceremony over skirt the whole time! The over skirt was created with bustle loops with the expectation this might be needed!! She was amazing to work with, great communicator in what she like and didn’t like and her vision. The small sequin covered lace was added over the mirror organza to give detail and reflection. So appreciate receiving pictures from day of❣️

Another prom season complete; 53 alterations and one gorgeous custom gown. Ella was an amazing client, came with multiple pictures of what she wanted and after much looking found the perfect fabric to bring her vision to life. The dark olive green silk underlining brought the floral appliqué to life on the black tulle. Dual slits allowed movement and grace to the gown. Black corset back allowed for amazing fit!

Custom made Heart Gala Gown for a gorgeous client, beautiful red taffeta, double skirt with lace overlay bodice. Her husband needed alterations to his velvet black and red jacket, both looked gorgeous for their charity event!
