I was restoring this all in one turntable/tape deck/stereo receiver. The corner of the plastic lid (where it mounts to the hinge) was snapped off and missing. I fabricated a piece out of sheet metal and bolted it on so the lid can once again open and close properly.

I'm probably gonna take it off and paint it flat black so it looks more professional

People keep calling me thinking that I'm still in Laconia. Even though nowhere on the internet does it say that I'm in laconia. My Google Business listing has been updated, showing that I'm in Wentworth.

I thought that the name "Boom the Box." Would be a dead giveaway that I work with audio equipment from the 70s-80s.

But apparently it somehow isn't.

I've gotten numerous phone calls from people asking me to repair worthless, disposable things from the 2000s like CD players, DVD players, even flat-screen TVs.

The average person probably doesn't realize it, but electronic equipment made in recent years is disposable and can't be worked on.

In the 80s, circuit boards were soldered by hand. Components can be desoldered, removed, and replaced. Multimeters can be used to track down and pinpoint bad components (if a visual inspection didn't do so already.)

As the mid 90s rolled into the 2000s, hand made circuit boards slowly faded away, in favor of machine made circuit boards that are impossible for humans to work on.

Put simply, electronic equipment went from being serviceable, to being disposable.
