Three Generations, One Special Dress💗
There is something truly magical about upcycling wedding dress projects, especially when they carry so much family history.

For this wedding, we did something extra special. We took Grandma’s original wedding gown and transformed it into a custom flower girl dress for the granddaughter to be at the daughter's wedding.

It’s an honor to help keep these family traditions alive through the art of sewing. This isn't just an outfit; it’s a piece of history redesigned for a new generation.

Throwing it back to my Chicago days! 🌬️🎨

Graduation at School of the Art Institute of Chicago was all about experimentation for me. I wanted to see how far I could push fabric to become architecture.

It’s bittersweet looking at these photos—life took me on a journey across the US, and unfortunately, the physical pieces didn’t make it through every move. While the physical garments are gone, the creative spark they lit stays with me.

Always document your work, makers! You never know when a photo will be all you have left of a breakthrough moment. ❤️

Repurposing a grandmother’s wedding gown into a flower girl dress is one of my favorite ways to honor family history. But "redesigning" is a lot more involved than just a stitches!

Transforming vintage bridal wear into a safe, comfortable outfit for a little one is a specialized process that involves:

Deep Cleaning & Spot Removal: Vintage fabrics often require a very gentle touch to restore.

Safety First: For my tiniest clients (especially under 3 years old), I meticulously remove every single bead and sequin. Choking hazards are no joke, and "Dress Science" means making sure the outfit is as safe as it is beautiful.

Structural Redesign: drafting the patterns, cutting the dress while keeping the integrity of the original lace and silk takes a lot of patience and precision.

It is a labor of love, but the outcome? Pure magic that makes every hour of work worth it.

It feels like just yesterday my boys were "helping" in the studio, playing with fabric scraps while I worked.

Fast forward to today, and the long game has finally paid off! The apprentices have officially entered the building. Watching them tackle dog toy surgery and unpicking seams in the shoppe today is pure magic.

Who knew that all those years of "helping" Mom in the studio would eventually lead to them actually helping Mom in the shoppe?
