Beginning Sewing Series Descriptions!
1. How to Read and Cut Out a Pattern
$40, 2.5 hours, $5 material fee
Description: What's more enticing than a colored photo of a flowing Renaissance Queen, or a toddler sporting a pink sun dress, printed on a practically weightless paper package? Don't buy into the deception that the exact image you are looking at exists. Collecting patterns is fun, and feels almost as good as owning the product it promises. Being able to fully decipher what the pattern says - inside and out of the cover - brings you a big step closer to creating that picture on the front.
This workshop covers brands, size charts, fabric samples, vocabulary terms and symbol reading. No machine is required.
2. Sewing Machine and Stitch Basics
$40, 2 hours, $2 material fee, bring your machine but not required
There have been times in life where I’ve been convinced that just because I owned a particular tool, also meant I knew the accompanying skill; tap dancing for example. If you’ve had a machine for a while and need a refresher on how to use it, or are brand new to the art, bring it in.
This workshop covers basic sewing machine know-hows, plus basic stitches: straight, baste, zig-zag.
3. Not-So-Basic Stitches
$40, 2 hours, $5 material fee, bring machine but not required
The following stitches will be taught: fringe hem, gather, zipper, blind hem, buttonhole.
UPDATE: Dates vary by interest, but will mostly be held Wednesday and Friday afternoons throughout 2022. Send me a message!
