The NCAA Division II Football Power Index is the new selection system adopted for the 2026-27 season that evaluates teams based on game results and strength of schedule, replacing the former committee-based regional rankings. In the first official release published Oct. 18, 2026, West Liberty holds a 55.810 NPI and sits at No. 26 nationally and No. 5 in Super Region 1, positioning the 6-1 Hilltoppers within the group of teams in contention for one of eight playoff berths. Slippery Rock leads the region and nation with a 66.161 NPI, followed by Kutztown, East Stroudsburg, and Virginia State in the top four. Super Region 1's automatic bids go to the CIAA, Mountain East Conference, Northeast-10, and PSAC champions, with four at-large spots awarded via NPI.
