Yesterday, the City of McKeeesport recognized the 82nd anniversary of the SS McKeesport’s final voyage. It was struck by a German u-boat in the North Atlantic during World War II.

Our Story

My story goes back to when I was 7 years old. That is when I used my Mom’s good pinking shears to cut my construction paper. I don’t remember getting punished that day but it sure did have a lasting affect on me. I have several scissors these days and each one has a specific function. My Barbie doll had the prettiest clothes of all my friends, due to my Mom’s sewing. I guess that is where my passion started. When I was 11, my Mom went to the finest store in the area to purchase black velvet and black lace for my sister’s gown. I loved the feel of the different textures and the nap of the velvet. I started to sew my own clothes shortly after that and have continued for generations. From wedding gowns, swim suits, novelty items and upholstery, my quest for knowledge and excellence endured. Although my career choice was a Registered Nurse, my passion has remained in my sewing studio. To ask a question and place an order, please email me at [email protected].
