We are heartbroken to share the passing of James Rangel, beloved father to Kenzie and father-in-law to Lazarus.

James was without a doubt a Wichita icon. He was an artist, a musician, a bright familiar face in the community. We’re sure many of you have pictures with him and his pet snake, Maximus the Great! James truly brought so much joy and whimsy to everyone around him. Family, friends, and strangers alike.

He was endlessly proud of Kenzie, and he was DCV’s biggest supporter from day one. James came to every event, every sale… He’d even stop by the shop on random weekdays just to say hi to whoever was working. 💛 His absence will be deeply felt here and across Wichita.

We are holding Kenzie and Laz close through this enormous loss. Thank you for the outpouring of love and condolences over the last several days. It has meant so much to Kenzie, Laz, and all of us here at DCV.
