Some unfortunate news...
We are in the dog days of summer and half way through a year I didn't anticipate for myself. The biggest curve ball was thrown at me in January that I want to share with you and bring you up to date on recent developments with my health.
4 weeks ago I was admitted to Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, three hours from Wichita with rhabdomyolysis (often called rhabdo). Rhabdo occurs when damaged muscle tissue releases its proteins and electrolytes into the blood which makes someone extremely weak and can cause liver damage. My liver enzymes were dangerously high. When admitted I was so weak I could barely walk.
In addition, I was diagnosed with stage 2 bladder cancer in mid January. It was quite a shock since I have no risk factors or family history of cancer. My body did not react well to chemotherapy and after five of eight rounds of chemo, my oncologist stopped the chemo due to elevated liver enzymes.
Doctors still do not exactly know what caused my Rhabdo, it was likely a counter reaction of the chemo or other medicines I was given prior to chemotherapy.
With all that said, I decided to close both our brick and mortar and online store on July 29 to focus on my health. We will be running a sale July 20-29 which will be communicated via email and social media.
This was a difficult decision my family and I have made, however we know it's best for my recovery not knowing how long this journey will be.
