Our Story:

Seeded is a partnership between a few designers and business-minded people from America and East Africa. We wanted to create a product that pulled inspiration from the shores of the Swahili Coast--a lush landscape of palm trees, white sand beaches, and brilliant aquamarine waters. Our Products:

Our shoes are produced in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, by a team of talented crafters. We use t

ime-tested methods to create modern, original designs to carry you seamlessly from the beach to an evening soiree. Each shoe is handmade--and we mean handmade. A beader meticulously crafts each shoe, sewing individual Czech glass beads to the leather to create intricate patterns. Every piece of leather is cut by hand, all stitching is done by hand, and each individual sole is cut and sanded by hand. Every piece is assembled with individual attention by craftsmen and women who take pride in the work they do. All of our leather is locally produced from smallholder farms in the region.

Hi there, friends! You may have noticed we’ve been a little quiet over here 🤫 That’s because Seeded Hand Sown has grown and is now a collection under our brand, Swahili Coast! Give us a follow there and on Instagram () to keep up with all of our adventures 🌞 Swahili Coast will continue to partner with the artisans who craft our Seeded Hand Sown sandals.

We are so excited to be able to expand, partnering with several other artisan groups throughout East Africa to offer lots of new collections - from Beaded Leather Cuff bracelets, to Kenyan Beach Towels, to our Kenya Collection brass jewelry.
