I have been taking the last couple of days to compose my thoughts on the overturning of Roe v Wade. Though I still don’t have the words to adequately explain my feelings, I cannot stay silent any longer.
I have read The Handmaids Tale more times than I can count. Always coming back to it in a messed up sort of comfort. It reminds me of the power of women+. It reminds me of the resiliency of women+. I always read it and cringed at the relevance of a book written in 1985. Thinking that at least there was a level of fiction that kept me safe from the events.
This book is no longer a work of fiction. We are watching the events take place in front of our very eyes. SCOTUS will not stop with Roe. This is only the beginning.
I plan to research meaningful ways that I can make an impact on what is happening and I encourage you to do that same.
Take a step back, reflect on your feelings and your mental health, and then act.
