With six days left before we close our doors forever, today we honor Nitsa, a woman
with courage and vision.
After Greece was decimated during World War II, which took the life of her father, Athanasias, early on in the war in 1940 when she was six years old, fifteen year old Nitsa Dombalis came to America.
In 1964, she opened Nitsa’s Fourth Street Tailoring & Alterations Shop with one sewing machine. Here, she offered expert alterations and custom-made clothing (schooled in Greece as a young girl in this technical skill).
Through continued years of hard work and dedication, she grew her business and in 1987, her son, George, joined the business at the Margaret Street location off of Stratford Road. George and his mom began traveling to New York City, seeking top designers in the fashion industry to bring back to Winston Salem.
Through continued years of support from the local community and by the Grace of God,
the business flourished. When construction began in a new shopping center in 1995, Nitsa’s moved to Stratford Village, its current location. The vision continued, and in 2002, the Charlotte store opened in Phillips Place.
Through the years, we have been blessed with partnering with many incredible designers whom we are grateful for the opportunity to represent and sell their art form. Also, to our loyal generations of customers throughout our six decades; to thank you will never be enough. You lifted us up and supported us which allowed us to continue year after year. And lastly, but certainly not least, to our dedicated employees who worked with us through the good times and the tough times; your loyalty and hard work will never be forgotten. The rest is history. 💜
During this Season of the Nativity, we give all Glory to God .
✨Christ is Born, Glorify Him!✨
