Donation Shed reopens Saturday, May 30th (9 to 4) to accept your donations; it is still in disarray, but lots better than it was. Big Thanks to volunteers, Chase, Nikki, and our Coordinator Beth. Part of the disruption was the necessary work being done below St. Philip’s Sanctuary….the cellar stairs/exit are in our ‘shed’. Other part: Lots of spring cleaning going on in Wiscasset!🧹🛍️

Please remember we cannot accept mattresses, bed pillows, child car-seats, electronic gear (like computer monitors, TVs, computer-related parts). And, we really do NOT need clothes hangers, plastic water bottles, or Christmas decorations. We DO need men’s summer shorts, light jackets, and boys’ clothing in good repair.
Thank you, Wiscasset, for giving us cleaned small appliances, clothing, and bedding. 💕

Good news…

This week, Governor Mills signed LD 2124 An Act to Support Emergency Shelter Funding Using Revenue from the Real Estate Transfer Tax. This is another step forward in keeping emergency shelters open!

Maine’s emergency shelter system has been facing a funding crisis because of rising operational costs and increased need. Thanks to a mixture of one-time funding for this fiscal year and some new annual funding, Maine’s 37 emergency shelters are safe from closing for another year. We will continue to advocate for more ongoing funding to ensure that our neighbors experiencing homelessness have a safe place to rest and access the resources they need to return to housing.

Special thanks to the bill’s sponsors, Representative Drew Gattine and Senator Rachel Talbot Ross, and all Housing and Economic Development Committee members for their bipartisan support of long-term sustainable funding for emergency shelter operations.

Friendly Reminder! Saturdays, from 9 to 4pm the thrift store is open; and donations are accepted in the ‘shed’ between the church and former Rectory (dark blue home). As you unload your donations, please do not block our neighbor’s driveway. 🚙🚗

Please respect our property. If the shed is closed, kindly do not leave bags or your unwanted things outside. Thank you!
Disabled parking is along the front of the shed on the new concrete.

We appreciate your donations and for shopping in the Bargain Basement. If you’d like to join our small volunteer cadre leave us a message with your interests and talents. 🛍️
