Rimac and BMW Take On the Electric Future Together
If Rimac's Nevera is any indication, the joint venture should breed something fast.

Mate Rimac, founder and CEO of Rimac Technology, loves to talk about his old E30. From press conferences at The Quail to his own biography, the Croatian innovator credits his hand-converted, all-electric 1984 BMW 3-series as a catalyst for the success he enjoys today. Now, the 36-year-old is getting a chance to give back to the car brand that started it all, as Rimac Technology and the BMW Group on Tuesday announced a new, long-term joint venture.

Rimac will be aiding BMW in its future battery development endeavors, the largest project of scale Rimac says it has taken on. Specifically, BMW is using Rimac's battery development and production facilities in Zagreb, Croatia, to deliver greater volumes of advanced battery systems. To facilitate this level of production, Rimac and BMW will also collaborate on automated production lines for batteries, with a significant portion of the nearly 50-acre property dedicated to BMW's processes.

"This marks a pivotal moment in the growth of Rimac Technology, from humble beginnings to a major long-term partnership with one of the greatest automotive brands in the world," said Rimac. "It’s a clear sign of the transition of Rimac Technology from niche high-performance supplier to high-volume production capability."

BMW is eager to scale up its electrification capacity, as it launches an entire lineup of electric sedans and SUVs. Currently BMW does the majority of its EV production in its Dingolfing facility, sharing the production line with internal-combustion vehicles as well. Similarly, BMW recently announced plans to retool its Munich headquarters in the name of all-electric production by 2027. Plus, BMW is already preparing for a whole new generation of electric models, known as the Vision Neue Klasse.

Independently, Rimac's foray into electrification led to the industry-shaking Rimac Nevera electric hypercar. With a seven-minute Nürburgring lap time, the Nevera is an exercise in new performance horizons at the very least. Working in conjunction with BMW, this venture is likely to skew toward performance, whether in power figures or range numbers.

631-HP Lamborghini Huracán STJ Serves as the Supercar's Epic Swan Song
Limited to only 10 copies, each serves as the Huracán's grand finale and adds aggro aero bits, stickier tires, and new dampers

Lamborghini's newest special edition looks the business. The Italian marque just unveiled the Huracán STJ—the final special edition of the 10-year-old supercar. Visually, the STJ is less conspicuous than you might expect from a swan-song Lamborghini, but the real changes are under the skin.

Arrivederci, Huracán
The STJ is a Huracán even more focused on setting lap times than the already heavily track-focused STO that it's based on. According to Lambo, the mechanical grip has been considerably improved thanks to a new set of four-way-adjustable dampers that replace the previous active setup on the standard car. The company claims that added adjustability means the new dampers can be run with lower spring stiffness without losing control or steering feel.
Additionally, Lamborghini worked with Bridgestone to develop a set of Potenza race tires for the 20-inch center-locking wheels. And just like the STO, the STJ is rear-drive only, and power comes courtesy of a dry-sumped 631-hp 5.2-liter V-10 tucked behind the cabin and mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Changes didn't stop with dampers and tires, with Lambo also tweaking the supercar's aerodynamics. The front splitter is slightly revised, and new dive planes were added. Lamborghini dialed up the rear wing by three degrees to increase the aerodynamic load compared with the production model without compromising the balance.

As with the STO, the "ST" in the new car stands for Super Trofeo, while the "J" stands for Jota and references both FIA racing regulations and previous Lamborghinis like the Miura SVJ and Aventador SVJ. Add up the changes to the STJ, and Lamborghini says the final version shaves more than a second off the STO's lap time at the manufacturer's test track.

Production of the special edition will be limited to just 10 examples, with Lamborghini offering customers a choice between two available configurations and livery options. The STJ marks the end of the line for the Huracán and celebrates a successful 10-year run. It will be succeeded by a plug-in-hybrid replacement that's coming later this year.

The 2025 Yukon follows its Chevy three-row siblings with a new look up front and, presumably, a similarly spruced-up interior, which we'll see when it's revealed later this year.

Full-size SUVs are the truck-based behemoths we use to haul vast numbers of people and acres of cargo when minivans just won't cut it. GMC is preparing to update its contribution to the three-row-SUV world, as we are now seeing the redesigned face of the 2025 Yukon AT4 for the first time ahead of its late-2024 debut.

The full-size SUV follows in the footsteps of its GM siblings, the 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, which were redesigned earlier this year with fancier interiors and a more powerful diesel engine. GMC's teaser doesn't show the full front end of the new Yukon, but the central change appears to be the redesigned headlights. The Yukon's grille and the rest of the front fascia also feature new designs in conjunction with the new headlights.

According to GMC, the 2025 Yukon will be revealed in full later this year. We think changes for the GMC will mirror those of the bowtie brand's SUVs. That means lightly refreshed exteriors and a larger focus on improving the cabin.
Those models feature a new column-mounted gear selector, a new standard 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a standard 11.0-inch digital gauge cluster. Under the hood, the familiar 5.3- and 6.2-liter V-8s return, and the diesel inline-six is completely overhauled. The redesigned Duramax diesel 3.0-liter inline-six pairs with a 10-speed automatic gearbox and produces 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque, up from 277 ponies and 460 pound-feet in the older models.

Chevy claims the suspension has been updated for a more refined ride in its pairing, while the steering calibration is also said to be revised. Those both sound good to us, especially considering we were already fans of the surprisingly controlled ride in the full-size SUV. Specifics such as returning trim levels and pricing will be revealed closer to the vehicle's launch.
