“Retelling an Old Story” - First episode: The journey of building Ngộ Crafts.
Hey — so, name’s Ngộ Ráp. I’m the mascot here at Ngộ Crafts, and look, today’s actually a big day for us — two years, can you believe it? So I figured, what better day to sit down and finally tell you guys the whole story.
This is the first episode of something we’re calling “Retelling an Old Story” — it’s basically us walking back through the journey, the why behind it all, the inspiration for every one-of-a-kind bag we’ve made. And it’s all told through these gorgeous digital paintings by .hapuu, so seriously, give that a round of applause.
Okay. So picture this — Saigon, a couple years ago. Tiny little space, real humble, nothing fancy at all. Two people: Đình and Ngộ. And honestly? That’s it, that’s where it all starts.
The name “Ngộ” — it means encounter, right, like fate bringing two things together that seemed like total strangers. And that’s really the whole soul of this brand. It started as an encounter between Đình and Ngộ. Then it just… kept happening, over and over, every time a new customer walked in. Someone wanting something minimal. Someone trying to hold onto a memory. Someone trying to carry a piece of home with them. They’d sit down, listen, work out the shape together, pick the materials, stick with the whole process start to finish. And what came out the other end? Never just a bag. Always the result of a meeting between two people.
