THE FOX BACKPACK AND A LESSON I’LL NEVER FORGET 🦊
Eight years ago, on a Saturday afternoon in Hanoi, the mother of my children and I went out for coffee.
As we were leaving the café, I took off my favourite fox backpack, placed it on the back seat of the motorbike, and assumed she had taken it.
She hadn’t.
We rode through Hanoi, talking and enjoying the streets as usual. When we arrived at my shop on Lý Thường Kiệt Street, I suddenly realised that the backpack was gone. 😨
Inside were my MacBook, a Sony RX0 camera, a hard drive filled with precious photos and important data, and several personal belongings. 💻📷💾
We immediately went back and searched along the route, but I never saw my beloved fox backpack again.
Luckily, just before going for coffee, I had returned a Leica M9 and a Summilux 35mm f/1.4 lens to my friend. Otherwise, the loss would have been much worse.
That day taught me a simple lesson:
Never assume someone else has your belongings.
Since then, I always carry my own backpack, look after it myself, and take full responsibility for it. 😅🎒
A memory from Hanoi that I will never forget.
Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone! ☕️❤️
