We were so thrilled to receive our latest batch of indigo-dyed and stone-polished cotton from our Nung U artisan community today.
Just look at this luscious fabric—its rich, deep tone almost looks like chocolate. Each piece carries the care, skill, and tradition of the artisans who made it.
This beautiful textile will be used to create the designs you see here, along with some new pieces we’re currently working on. We can’t wait to share what’s coming next.

Hôm nay, chúng tôi vô cùng hứng khởi khi nhận được lô vải bông nhuộm chàm và cán bóng bằng đá nhóng nhánh thơm sực từ ​​cộng đồng nghệ nhân Nùng U.

We’ve returned to work after a rather long Lunar New Year holiday. Our first trip of the Year of the Horse will begin next month, heading to Kyoto and then Nagoya, Japan. We’re busily preparing for this long-awaited series of events. Stay tuned!

We are excited to share that Kilomet109 is coming to Japan for the first time to exhibit our textiles and clothing.
You might be wondering, what is Tuticusa?
Tuticusa is a collective of contemporary textile and fiber artists from across Asia, and this March, Kilomet109 is honored to be part of it.
For the first time, the Tuticusa group will gather in Kyoto at Kondaya Genbei, the home of a tenth generation obi and textile making family. It is a space where tradition and contemporary practice meet through material and process.
We invite our friends and followers to visit March 20 to 22 and experience a diverse collection of textiles, fibers, and fashion from Kilomet109 alongside the work of the other participants.

Năm Ngựa đang đến gần. Đường phố Hà Nội nhộn nhịp, ngập tràn cây quất, hoa đào, hoa mơ…những lễ vàng mã rực rỡ sắc màu và những chậu cá vàng bơi lội tung tăng. Hôm nay là ngày Lễ Táo Quân ở Việt Nam - ngày chúng ta bày tỏ lòng biết ơn đối với các vị thần của gian bếp. Vào ngày này, quần áo bằng giấy, đồ dùng gia đình và các vật phẩm mang tính biểu tượng được hóa vàng trong khi cá vàng (thật và vẫn còn sống) được thả xuống sông hồ như một nghi thức tiễn biệt.

Truyền thống lâu đời này gợi nhớ đến loạt ảnh mà chúng tôi đã thực hiện cho bộ sưu tập KHAO năm 2015 - với những hình ảnh về lễ vật cúng Thần Bếp.

The Year of the Horse is drawing near. The streets of Hanoi are buzzing, filled with kumquat trees, peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, vibrant colored votive offerings, and bowls of goldfish swimming about. Today is the Kitchen Gods Day in Vietnam — a day when we express our gratitude to the deities of the kitchen. On this day, paper clothing, paper household items, and symbolic objects are burned, while goldfish (real and still alive) are released into rivers and lakes as an act of ritual farewell.

This long-standing tradition brings back memories of the photo series we created for the KHỞI collection in 2015 - which featured images of Kitchen Gods Day offerings.

On this occasion, we would like to wish all of you success and prosperity in the Year of the Horse — Mã Đáo Thành Công. 🐎✨

Let’s continue our visit to the silk weaving workshop of artisan Le Toan. The first thing we notice when entering his studio are the giant mechanical weaving looms that have been in his family for decades. Toan is standing at the helm of one of these looms weaving and adjusting the thread colors.

Last month we visited the silk artisan family who made our Sa, The and Vân silk fabrics outside of Hanoi. These heritage textiles we have been using for our range of blouses & dresses since early days. And they have become our signature pieces loved by many. This cloud-light fabric is also the name we’ve given to this special design series - Vân .

We invite you to visit the weaving studio, the loom and the artisan behind these precious fabrics. His name is Lê Toản.

We are thrilled to share that our designer - Vũ Thảo has recently returned from an incredibly inspiring residency at LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore.
Across five days of intensive presentations, discussions and lectures, we had the privilege of engaging with the vibrant faculty and students of the LASALLE School of Fashion. The Global Tropics: Fashion and Southeast Asia Conference served as a powerful platform to explore how tropical geographies shape and disrupt global fashion systems, moving beyond Western-centric narratives to highlight the region’s unique intellectual and aesthetic contributions.
Our Sincere Gratitude To: The Organizers at LASALLE for creating a progressive, warm, and supportive environment that fostered deep collaboration. And The Speakers for their insightful presentations that offered a hopeful vision for a more sustainable and collaborative future in fashion. The Students and Faculty whose energy and fresh perspectives during the workshops reminded us of the importance of community and shared knowledge.
This experience has reinforced our commitment to a healthier, more inclusive fashion industry. We look forward to integrating these Southeast Asian insights into our future projects.

KILOMET109 will be introduced for the first time in the ancient city of Kyoto, Japan this April. We are honored to stand alongside prominent craft masters, artisans, designers, and artists from many Asian countries.

‘Tuticusa’, which means earth and grass, is envisioned as an art space that will be co-created by 23 groups of artists from Japan and across Asia. The intent behind the exhibit is not only to showcase the talents of artists but also to connect them to each other and to buyers, thus serving as an avenue for collective inspiration to nurture new forms of ‘monozukuri’ beyond this event.

We have a deep love for the ebony fruit dyed fabrics crafted by artisans in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam. Nowhere else have we seen naturally dyed silk fabric that can achieve such a pitch black! For many years, we have regularly launched various designs using this unique materials. We have also experimented with ebony fruits using different methods, such as dyeing with other natural pigments or using sewing and tying techniques. Sharing with you a few snapshots taken on the occasion of our recent completion of an ebony-dyed fabric batch. (More to come!)

Chúng tôi dành một tình yêu đặc biệt sâu sắc cho chất liệu nhuộm quả mặc nưa do các nghệ nhân đồng bằng sông Cửu Long, Việt Nam chế tác. Chưa ở đâu chúng tôi thấy loại vải lụa tơ tằm nhuộm tự nhiên mà có thể đen thăm thẳm đến thế! Trong suốt nhiều năm qua chúng tôi đã cho ra mắt đều đặn những thiết kế khác nhau sử dụng chất liệu có một không hai này. Chúng tôi cũng như thử nghiệm trái mặc nưa với các phương pháp xử lý khác nhau như là nhuộm phối hợp với sắc tố tự nhiên khác hay bằng kỹ thuật khâu, buộc. Xin chia sẻ với các bạn vài bức hình chụp vội nhân dịp chúng tôi vừa hoàn thành một mẻ vải nhuộm trái mặc nưa. (Còn nữa!)
