At the heart of MoonStar’s craftsmanship is Fine Vulcanized — a traditional shoemaking process refined through generations in Kurume, Japan.

Limbro recently visited the historic MoonStar factory and sat down with Sotaro Yamada, Product Developer at MoonStar, to discover the craftsmanship, precision, and attention to detail behind this unique process.

At the heart of every MoonStar Fine Vulcanized shoe lies a process that values craftsmanship over speed.

Each pair is carefully assembled by hand before undergoing a vulcanization process that has been refined in Kurume, Japan for generations. Through heat, time, and precision, the rubber and upper are bonded together to create a shoe that is both durable and remarkably comfortable.

Every detail is then carefully inspected, ensuring that each pair meets the standards that have defined MoonStar for decades.

The result is footwear that combines softness, flexibility, durability, and lasting shape retention—qualities that continue to distinguish Fine Vulcanized shoes today.
