Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented draughtsman with experience in designing and drafting for the automotive accessories industry, particularly 4x4 vehicle canopies, roof racks, storage systems, and other custom off-road components. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating accurate technical drawings and 3D models used in the design, prototyping, and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings for canopies, roof racks, drawer systems, underbody protection, and other 4x4 accessories. Prepare shop and assembly drawings for manufacturing and fabrication purposes. Work closely with the design and engineering teams to convert concepts into production-ready plans. Revise drawings based on feedback, prototyping, or customer requirements. Ensure all designs meet safety, fitment, and functionality standards for various vehicle makes and models. Maintain organized drawing archives and documentation. Collaborate with workshop staff and suppliers for manufacturing feasibility.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a draughtsman in automotive, metal fabrication, or similar industries. Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar). Strong understanding of sheet metal design, welding, bending, and laser cutting principles. Familiar with vehicle structures and mounting systems. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret and modify technical specifications and client requirements. Relevant qualification in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with aluminium, steel, and composite materials. Knowledge of off-road vehicle accessories and custom canopy solutions. Understanding of manufacturing processes such as CNC cutting, folding, and MIG/TIG welding. Passion for 4x4 vehicles and outdoor lifestyle is a bonus.
