Yummy figs made by my mom inlaw Janap Noordien and she made it just the way her aunty Hatta also Janap made it 😋. Hatta was the pro in watermelon and fig preserve. May Allaah grant her and all Marhomeen Jannatul Firdous Aameen

Growing up we had many sweet favourites,here's one of mine. Enjoy this recipe for the holidays!

FIG PRESERVE A.K.A FYE KONFYT

Ingredients:
500 g green fig
1 liter of cold water
1 liter of boiling water
5 ml lime
2 figs leaves

Syrup:
500g white sugar
750 ml water
10 ml lemon juice or 1 ml tartaric acid
1 stick cinnamon Keep the stems and peel thin or scrape the skin is off.

Cut a cross in the bottom of each fig.
Mix cold water and lime, place figs in solution and let soak overnight.

Rinse under cold tap water.
Place in a fireproof bowl and add boiling water and leaves.
Cover and place in microwave 8-10 minutes at full power.
Mix the syrup ingredients and stir until the sugar dissolved. Cover and microwave for 10 minutes at full power. - Stir 2 times by.
Add figs and place in hot syrup. Microwave 30-40 minutes at full power - stirring frequently.
Spoon fruit in jars and pour hot syrup over on, allow to cool slightly before the bottles are sealed.
The figs are very green hear! * Instead of lime use 10 mL baking soda 1 liters of water
