Our 2027 Fashion Design Gap Year is a 9-month, part-time programme running from January to October, with extensive practical training across sewing, garment construction, pattern making and fashion design.

And this is deliberately NOT a huge class.

🎓 ONLY 10 STUDENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR 2027.

That means individual attention, hands-on teaching and the chance to develop real skills in a small studio environment.

We're putting together a special intensive programme starting 2 November, combining three of our most useful foundation courses into one seriously practical package:

🧵 ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS SEWING
Learn to use your sewing machine confidently and build proper garment-construction skills from scratch.

⚡ OVERLOCKERS I
Stop being terrified of the overlocker! Learn how it works, how to thread it, control it and use it properly for professional garment construction.

📐 PATTERN MAKING I
Move beyond simply following commercial patterns and start understanding how patterns are actually created , including drafting from measurements.

Individually, these courses are valued at approximately R15000

🧵 ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS SEWING COURSE:
Our thorough, practical beginner programme takes you from the very basics : understanding your machine, seams, cutting and construction , to making real bespoke garments properly and confidently.

✨ Three upcoming Absolute Beginners groups, including:
• Wednesday evenings from 2 September
• Saturday mornings from 3 October
• Plus another upcoming intake start on MON 2 NOV.

WOMEN'S DAY Thank You SALE 🪡❤️
For the women who made this place possible.
For 14 years, women have been the beating heart of
The Sew Much Fun Studio.

Well over 95% of you, in fact.

Women have walked through our doors to learn, make, think, laugh, start again, swear at zips, conquer things they were convinced they couldn't do and drink industrial quantities of Sewing Jet Fuel along the way.

Some came for one course.
Some apparently refused to leave. 😂
You came back for Pattern Making, Overlockers, Intermediate, SewAlongs, Gap Years... Yes you Liz!

another project, another challenge and sometimes
simply because having a creative place to go and good humans to sit beside really matters.

And somewhere along the way, you turned this tiny sewing atelier and school into a community.
