at Create.Hobby you will learn all the ins and outs of sewing and patternmaking. Create. Projects change as trends do.

Or if crafting is more up your alley, we can help you with classes in crochet, felting etc. Hobby center is a place in which you can forget the troubles around you and enjoy travelling into a creative space. We cover all kinds of projects from cushion covers to fun outfits. The lessons involve learning to use a electronic sewing machine and hand stitching techniques. We have all the tools you need in our classroom. All you need to do is arrive and have fun. Everyone is welcome.

When creativity spills over into the whole studio.✂️ We just finished our Kids Holiday Sewing Camp and what a success. These little creatives were hard at work sewing up a storm.

We have some exciting new events coming up!

We are launching a weekday term program for kids on a Tuesday afternoons 3:30pm-4:30pm. Please DM us for more info should your child like to take sewing up as a regular hobby.

Otherwise if you would like to keep it as holiday fun, our next Kids Holiday Sewing Camp will be on the following dates:

My daughter’s favorite thing to do, is to walk into our studio and go straight to the off-cuts corner and see what fabric pieces she can find. She is obsessed with finding fabrics for dresses and happy to wait around for multiple hours until I have sewn up something for her.
Kids clothing is a great way to re-purpose smaller fabric pieces.
Have you got little kids at home and lots of fabric pieces that are too small for an adult garment? Come join our Project Help Class and we can assist you in creating something for your little one.

These are our “Project Help Class” time slots:

Tuesday’s & Thursday’s 10am-12pm
Tuesday’s: 18:00-20:00pm
Saturday’s: 13:30-15:30pm

Book a bulk package or single classes.
R375/hour or R2400 for 4x 2 hour sessions.

We have machines available for use. All you need to bring along is your project idea. Or chat to us about a project idea for your class.

Here he is proudly showing off the waistcoat he made during the Advanced course. He created his own textile by patchworking together a variety of offcuts.
How fun are these pattern and colour combinations? 🤩

Our winter edition of Kids Sewing camp takes place 7-9 July, 9:30-12:00.

Kids age 7-15 years old will learn how to use a sewing machine and sew 2-3 projects.

Classes take place at our studio in Observatory.

Cost is R1450 per child including materials.

Noluvuyo was our last Beginner's sewing graduate for 2024, so naturally we had to take a pic of her and the apron she made to commemorate the moment.

Registrations for our 2025 classes are open, so DM us if you would like to learn how to sew in the new year.

All of our courses are currently 10% less if you purchase a voucher before 31 December. The voucher is valid for a year from date of purchase, which means you can join us anytime during 2025.
