For Women By Women - HOH 🪐
Meet Katie, Co-owner & Chef
Katie is originally from Cape Town and discovered baking by accident. You don’t simply hear that everyday ! However, it makes complete sense as Katie has always enjoyed eating sweet things so she decided to try and make her own and had a lot of fun doing so.
Up until studying, Katie knew almost nothing about cooking, she just loved food and eating at different restaurants while experiencing different chefs' visions.
After residing in Johannesburg , Katie really wanted to move back home and also start her own business, in which herself and her team discovered the amazing space that they occupy now, it was almost destine for them to relocate.
Throughout her journey , Katie found herself working at many different hotels and restaurants where you put in a lot of effort and hours to see those businesses succeed and don't get much back. This, Katie explains that seeing the return for your own business is a lot more rewarding.
Furthermore, Katie’s journey allowed her to understand the power in being able to value herself and her skills. “People in the food industry will definitely take advantage of your time and skill and you really have to make your own path, especially as a woman. Females are very underrated in hospitality”, says Katie.
With Euphoria opening in September of 2021 , there was a lot of planning and craziness that occurred prior to its birth, in which the sparking idea had been brewing since the beginning of 2021.
Fast forward, customers can now enjoy a menu filled with food loved by both chefs and that is the embodiment of ultimate deliciousness! No really, Euphoria wouldn't serve anything they wouldn't eat so they know the guest experience will be totally yummy and exciting. Katie expresses further that, Marike is great at balancing flavour and texture so each dish is a journey to be savoured and shared. -Such an inspirational and powerful female, entrepreneurial duo!
