I just came on here, brimming with excitement and joy to share my first completed artwork for the year, Hearth.
She’s a meditation on fire, on this powerful and essential force which brings with it terror, pain and also transformation, evolution.

Instantly, before I could get to share this point on the creative cycle, I am confronted with the first post on my feed, the opposition : Another wild fire, this one burning through a nearby farming community. One which has just rebuilt after the last round of devastation.

And the wheel keeps on turning. Burning with pain, burning with hopelessness, burning with hope, burning with love, burning with the dream of tomorrow, and the another after that, so that we may gather together more fuel to continue that which is everlasting

Yesterday I said a big Bon voyage to a massive project which has taken up most of the studio (my brain, schedule, and physical space) for at least a third of the year.
Feels so good to have some space, been building & organising & shedding and realigning and am ready to get rolling again!
Also the studio is officially ready to welcome visitors again, so to all of those I’ve been awkwardly shirking for a while, come on by! Let’s chat! Let’s ideate! Let’s make magic 💫

Last week this incredibly special piece, which has been been held by for the last while found her home ✨
I feel it worth documenting here, possibly again, as this was the first piece in a series which has already and I truly believe will unfold into an incredibly important series. A mediation on time, on land, on labour, production, consumption, disposal and reconstitution. She speaks the full full cycle of being, of shifting, of reconfiguration as a tool for reflection and in all of this depth, resonating a force of quiet, subtle balance, beauty, harmony.
I’m thrilled that she’s found a new home, and I am eternally beyond grateful for the space that .sacks.ceramicist holds for me, my work, my process & the nourishment of community around all the most important things in life.
Nothing but love, gratitude and expanse
