The Mother's Day Sew & Sip cemented Robyn's decision to take up sewing as a hobby.

Mid Year School Holidays!

To save yourself from all the 'Mommy I'm bored' and 'There's nothing to do' comments enrol them for 4 days of sewing fun! 🧵

Not only will they fine tune their motor skills, they will learn a new skill, maybe even unlock a hidden talent and they'll get to be off their screens for a bit!

May's Sew & Sip was dedicated to Mothers 🌸

This past Saturday's workshop saw a mother and daughter in law duo! It was a birthday surprise for the daughter in law, Robyn who showed an interest in learning how to sew. The mother in law Ursula, then blessed and joined her for a lovely afternoon of creativity!

They were both super chuffed by their end product, a scatter cushion cover.
Both had no experience whatsoever and look what they did!

Excited to announce a new offering...

Basic Sewing Classes for kids!

A brilliant way to tap into the creative and imaginative workings of your child's mind.

Yes the world 🌍 is fast moving into the digital and technological age however skills will always be needed!
And as the saying goes 'if you can work with your hands, you'll never be without a job'

Sewing teaches sew much 😉

🧵Math concepts
🧵Develops Motor skills
🧵Exercises creativity
🧵Builds confidence
🧵Learning from mistakes and correcting them

There is no set outline of a course as the child will work at his or her own pace. This is all about fun and being creative whilst still learning.
Your child will work from basic beginner, through an intermediate phase and to an 'advance' phase of sewing which includes working with and understanding commercial patterns and eventually making their own clothes.

Classes schedule
Mondays 15h00-16h00 (9-12yrs)
Thursdays 13h00-14h00 (9-12yrs) & 15h00-16h00 (13-15yrs)

All sewing equipment and fabric for basic projects are provided.
Once the child reaches the advanced phase is where they would need to bring their own fabrics along.
Ironing is also involved in sewing and this is done under strict adult supervision.

2 spots are available in Monday's class with both classes on Thursdays are open.

It's a full circle moment ✨

Last year early May, Shannon signed up for a week of basic sewing lessons 🧵

For 2 reasons;
1. It's something that she always wanted to do
And
2. She worked on a Disney cruise ship and wanted to apply to the costume technician department. She needed sewing experience and knowledge.

Yesterday we did a refresher as she received the email to say she was successful in her interview. She leaves tomorrow to board a new ship where she will be working in the costume technician department! 🥳

It's no surprise that the new ship is called Wish and 1 of Shannon's wishes has come true 🙏🏻
Please join me in wishing her well on this brand new journey, position and a new cruise ship.

About last Saturday... 🧵🥂

The last Sew & Sip Scatter Cushion Cover workshop as next month it will be something new!

The ladies and I had a wonderful afternoon with making something they didn't think they'd be able to do.
It was also a privilege to be able pass on my knowledge and skill to two educators! The shoe was now on the other foot with them being the students and they passed with flying colours! I had no doubt 😌 Not that there was any sort of test.

2 and a half hours later from knowing nothing to learning to operate the sewing machine to sewing a complete scatter cushion cover, they stand proudly with their handiwork.

The workshop is super chilled and you work at your own pace even if it does go over the stipulated time. The point is for you to walk away feeling proud with what you have achieved.
