Join us for our Beginner Sewing class โ the perfect starting point for anyone wanting to learn how to sew with confidence! Whether you've never touched a machine or you're looking to refresh your skills, this hands-on course is designed to take you from beginner to confident home sewist.
Our classes are 3 hours per sessions, one session per week, 12 sessions total
What You'll Learn:

Understanding Your Sewing Machine
Weโll guide you through the parts of a sewing machine, how to thread it, wind a bobbin, adjust tension, and solve common issues.

Essential Sewing Tools & Techniques
Get comfortable using sewing tools, learn how to use commercial patterns, measure and cut fabric correctly, and proper finishing of seams.

Basic Sewing Skills
Master straight stitching, pivoting, sewing curves, and how to use patterns to create beautifully constructed garments.

Intro to Overlocking
Learn the basics of using an overlocker to give your garments a neat, professional finish. Weโll show you how to thread it, adjust settings, and practice finishing seams.
โ๏ธ Projects You'll Complete:
Throughout the course, you will complete four beginner-friendly clothing items from scratch:
๐ Pair of Pants โ Learn basic construction, inserting elastic or a waistband, and hemming techniques
๐ Skirt โ A great introduction to pattern reading, fitting, and adding fasteners
๐ Shirt/Blouse โ Understand more detailed garment assembly, facings, and neat seam finishes
๐งฅ Cardigan โ Work with stretch fabrics and refine your finishing techniques for a wearable layer

โ๏ธ Sewing Manual โ A printed guide filled with techniques, tips, and space for notes
โ๏ธ Sewing Classes โ Step-by-step instruction from our experienced tutor in a supportive setting
โ๏ธ Full Pattern Set โ Patterns for all four garments (pants, skirt, shirt, cardigan) to use during the class and keep for future projects
โ๏ธ Tracing Paper - Blue semi-transparent tracing paper (2 meters)
๐งฐ What You Will Need (Not Included):
โ๏ธ Basic Sewing Kit โ Scissors, pins, measuring tape, seam ripper, tailorโs chalk or fabric marker etc.
โ๏ธ Fabric of Your Choice โ For each of the four projects (guidance will be provided)
โ๏ธ Notions โ Such as zippers, buttons, elastic, or bias binding as required for each garment
โ๏ธ Threads โ To match your chosen fabrics
โ๏ธ Needles โ For both hand sewing and machine sewing (including stretch needles for knits)
โ๏ธ Haberdashery Items โ Any additional trims or accessories youโd like to add to your garments

If you do not own a sewing machine of overlocker, please note there is an additional charge for using class machines.
