We are an artisan fashion brand on a mission to modernize the art of smocking for the 21st century child and women.

With our exciting colour palettes and fabrics, feminist spirit and ethical approach to each items craftsmanship, we breathe a new life into this hand-stitched craft. Every Liberty Fields piece is individually hand-sewn by our incredible team, from local informal communities of KZN. Hand-smocking is a skill which takes time, and each dress takes over a week to complete. Our items take time to be produced, using the highest quality threads and fabrics, in small limited editions and conceived to be passed down through generations. The result is unique, heirloom quality pieces, that support the makers and their families.

There is a reason traditional smocking is so special.

It takes time. Years of practice. Patience, precision and wonderfully gifted hands.

Before a single smocking stitch is made, the fabric is carefully pleated. Then every stitch is worked by hand, slowly building the pattern across the fabric. It is a craft that simply cannot be rushed.

At Liberty Fields, our team continues this beautiful tradition, the kind of workmanship that feels increasingly rare in a world of fast, mass-produced clothing.

It is slower. It is made by hand. And that is exactly the point. 🤍

Our Liberty Fields pieces are handmade with traditional smocking, delicate collars, and soft flowing skirts — timeless designs created for moments that families will remember forever.

We create these pieces for both girls and boys, each one thoughtfully tailored to your needs and occasion.

Custom dedication and christening garments take a minimum 6 weeks to make, so please get in touch well in advance if you would like a bespoke piece. For those needing something sooner, we do keep a small selection ready to send on our website.

I’m beyond obsessed with this little yellow Bailey dress in a perfect Liberty London cotton 🌼
A sunshine piece made for my baby shower by the incredible team — and for my special firstborn, who made me a mama first.

As we move into this new season, Liberty Fields will be focusing mainly on custom orders, allowing me to slow down and create with intention. We’ll still update the website from time to time to keep things feeling fresh, but made-to-order pieces will be our main focus.

I’ll continue creating throughout my maternity period, but responses and making times may be a little slower while I find my feet and soak up this special time with my growing family.

❤️🌸 NEWS ALERT! Liberty Fields began from a simple passion, a deep love for traditional hand crafted smocking, for beautiful fabrics, and for creating pieces that feel timeless but fun. I never could have imagined how far this little dream would grow in such a short time, or how many of you would welcome our dresses into your homes, special moments, and memories. For that, I am endlessly grateful.

Over the years, I’ve stitched, cut, pleated, and created late at night after long work days, balancing custom orders with producing stock for markets and the website, all while working full-time. And now, with our family growing in size and a little one on the way beginning of next year, it feels like the right moment to realign and refocus.

To honour my family, my full-time career, and the craft I adore, we will be shifting Liberty Fields into a slower, more intentional season.
This means we will be moving away from creating large stock for the website and stepping back from markets, instead focusing fully on custom, made-to-order pieces. This allows me, and our small team, to continue creating with care, keep everyone steadily busy, and maintain the quality and love that Liberty Fields is known for, without stretching ourselves too thin.

Custom smocked dresses take time, detail, and intention. Because of this, our turnaround for custom orders will be 4-6 weeks, and for wedding parties we kindly ask for 4–6 months’ notice so we can walk with you through the full design process, source the perfect fabrics, and create something truly special (it takes time and we don’t stoop on any details for the special day!).

This shift doesn’t come lightly, with change always comes a little risk, a few nerves, and a whole lot of trust. But it also comes with clarity. A chance to slow down, breathe, and give the best of ourselves to the things that matter most.

Thank you for allowing Liberty Fields to grow with me, and for understanding this new season of focus, balance, and creativity. I’m excited to continue crafting beautiful custom pieces for your little ones, with all the love that started this journey in the first place. ❤️
