1. Globally 771 million people still cannot read and write

2. An estimated 53% of ten year old children in low and middle income countries are not able to read and understand a simple story.

3. The South African Standard of education is second last in the world.

Malala Yousafzai the youngest Nobel peace prize winner famously said One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world. ”
