There is something deeply satisfying about turning raw fibre into yarn with your own hands.
This is me spinning ColourSpun Pure Merino roving on my Ashford traditional wheel, drawing the fibre out and letting the wheel do the twisting.
If you have ever wanted to try spinning your own yarn, our Tour de Fleece Mystery Boxes are available to order, ready for your own wheel or spindle.

The fynbos knows something about starting again.

After fire, it doesn't just recover - it regenerates. Seeds that have waited years finally open. Colour comes back brighter than before.

The Storytellers Cloak CAL has completed. But the kits remain, because making something beautiful has no expiry date.

Thank you Hilda Steyn (Ilona Slow Life Creations) for a pattern that gave so many makers a reason to keep going, square by square.

The Storyteller's Cloak CAL has come to an end.

Twelve weeks ago, we crocheted the first stitches of a dream.

Since then, many motifs, countless cups of coffee, quiet evenings, road trips, laughter, reflection, and stories have found their way into this cloak.

What started as yarn and a hook became so much more.

Together we explored little boxes, in-between spaces, wildflowers, forgiveness, resilience, storms, leftover pieces, ordinary faithfulness, and the courage to keep going when life doesn't unfold according to plan.

Today the final section has been released, and with it, the end of this particular journey.

Thank you to every person who chose to spend these past twelve weeks with me. Thank you for every photo shared, every encouraging comment, every stitch made, and every story told.

My hope has always been that this cloak would be more than a garment. I hope it has become a reminder that beautiful things take time, that life is best lived intentionally, and that every one of us is writing a story worth telling.

If you haven't joined the journey yet, the pattern is still available here:

And if you'd like to create your own version using one of the curated kits:

This is the first CAL that had me in tears at the end of the journey. What part of this journey stayed with you the most?

Week 12. The last week of the Storytellers Cloak CAL.
To everyone who started this journey - who sat down week after week, made their squares and kept going - this one is for you.

And if you haven't started yet: the kits don't expire. You can still begin. The Storytellers Cloak will be there whenever you're ready.

Thank you to Hilda Steyn of Ilona Slow Life Creations for a pattern that was always about far more than crochet.

Colour doesn't shout in nature. It belongs.

The pink of a protea in the fynbos. The rust of winter reeds. The infinite green of the Cape in all its moods. These are the colours that find their way into ColourSpun yarn - and from there, into what makers create.

Take a little trip with me around the bottom of my studio and see what I'm working on today.

We had such a lovely Slow Saturday, (not quite) Knitting in Public Day in the studio yesterday.
