Rebranding Alert!!!

We are proud to announce that we have finally taken a leap of faith after being in the public health sector for years we have since opened a new Occupational Therapy Private Practice🎉

Our page (Unbox_Fun_) previously focused on sharing activities to assist parents, teachers, caregivers to help their little ones with meeting their developmental milestones. Early childhood intervention is still our area of interest, hence PaedoSpace- a space for our little ones, where we assist them to thrive in different areas of their lives by Assessing, and providing treatment to them through Evidence-based Occupational Therapy interventions.

We will be introducing you to different aspects of the practice as time goes on. We provide online consultations/teletherapy and physical interventions in Gauteng(Pretoria/Johannesburg/Sandton/Fourways).

As you all know we are big advocates of play at Unboxfun, i thought I should share some of the popular myths I've come across pertaining to play;
-Some people believe that all babies younger than 1yrs do is sleep and eat and they don't really play. This is not true, all children engage in play the type of play they engage in differs based on their developmental age. Play is necessary for a child's development, it could simply be rolling a sensory bottle like the one on the picture and watching the loom bands flow down. This will teach the child about cause & effect, how when they roll the bottle the loom bands flow up & down the bottle.

- Others think that play is for fun and they don't learn through play. Play is just a different way of learning although it's not the same as pen & paper work they will learn & enhance critical skills which will probably stick better than through a pen & paper activity as they are also intrinsically motivated to engage in the activity given the fun nature of play.

-Others believe that all toys will educate your baby/ that they are necessary for play. Not all toys will educate your baby, some toys are limiting and don't stimulate much of your child's senses as well as enhance their imagination. Some are restrictive and don't contribute much to your child's development.

Play is every child's occupation, but also what type of play they engage in is as important. Please feel free to drop any myths you've heard or come across with regards to Children's development or play. Would love to hear from you 😁😁😁
