Louise… what a bride. 🤍

Often brides walk through our doors with a vision that reminds us exactly why we love creating bespoke gowns.

Louise was deciding between a beautiful off-the-rail dress she liked and creating something entirely her own. While the dress she tried on was stunning, there is something incredibly special about wearing a gown that exists for one woman only.

That is the beauty of bespoke.

Your wedding dress is more than a garment—it’s an expression of who you are. It should celebrate your personality, your style and your story, not simply follow a trend.

With a few inspiration images from Louise, the hunt for the perfect lace began. Then we found it… the most exquisite hand-corded lace sources in Durban. It was everything she had dreamed of:

✨ Stretch for comfort
✨ A delicate scalloped edge

From that moment, the design truly came to life. One of our favourite memories was carefully placing every piece of lace before Louise stood in front of the mirror for her first fitting. Watching her see her dress becoming her dress was pure magic.

And wasn’t it worth it?

A gown designed around her, crafted to fit her perfectly, and unlike anything anyone else would ever wear.

Louise stayed true to herself and the result was elegant, sophisticated and effortlessly beautiful.

Then she wore it on her family’s beautiful farm, creating a wedding day that felt just as authentic as the gown itself.

It’s funny how life sometimes brings you right back to where your story started.

Back in 2013, when KMB was just beginning, Kelly hosted her very first Matric Dance Workshop. At the time, she simply wanted to share her passion for styling and help young women feel confident on one of the biggest days of their school careers. She had no idea that one workshop would become the beginning of a business that has gone on to dress thousands of incredible brides and matric girls over the years.

Looking back, we’re overwhelmed with gratitude. Every fitting, every consultation, every happy tear, every dream dress, and every family who has entrusted us with such meaningful moments has played a part in our journey. We truly couldn’t have done it without you.

What has never changed, though, is Kelly’s passion for education.

A beautiful dress is only part of the story. Knowing which silhouettes flatter your body shape, which colours enhance your skin tone and hair colour, which fabrics move and fit beautifully, and how to complete your look with the right jewellery, shoes, hair and makeup is what creates confidence. When you understand these elements, the entire experience becomes enjoyable, empowering and far less overwhelming.

That passion for teaching is what inspired the very first workshop—and it’s exactly why we’re bringing it back.

Thirteen years later, we’re returning to where it all began.

Whether you’re in Grade 11, preparing for your matric dance next year, or a matric student ready for one of the biggest events of your school journey, we’d love for you and your mom to join us for an evening of inspiration, practical advice and professional styling tips.

Elizabeth 💙

Some brides just have that effortless magic about them… and Elizabeth is undoubtedly one of them.

From the moment she walked into our studio, we knew creating her wedding gown was going to be something special. Although she’s now a Johannesburg girl, she’ll always be an Eastern Cape girl at heart—and that made this journey all the more meaningful.

Together, we designed a gown that perfectly reflected her style: a modern bubble skirt, a beautifully pleated bodice, and an elegant off-the-shoulder band. Timeless, fashion-forward, and unapologetically her.

Watching every detail come together is one of the greatest privileges of what we do, but seeing a bride step into her gown on the day she says, “I do”… that’s the moment that makes it all worthwhile.

Against the breathtaking backdrop of Kurland Estate in Plettenberg Bay, Elizabeth married the love of her life, and every detail of her celebration was simply exquisite.

These photographs capture more than a beautiful dress—they capture joy, love, and the beginning of a lifetime together.

Alouise ❤️

Isn’t she absolutely stunning in the colour of the season… burgundy. 🥰

We searched high and low for the perfect shade and eventually found this magnificent beaded lace in Cape Town after quite the hunt! Once we had found the lace, we carefully matched the base fabrics to complement it perfectly… and voilà! Isn’t she absolutely breathtaking in her matric dance dress?

Kelly still remembers the look on Alouise’s face when she saw her completed dress. Those are the moments that remind you exactly why you do what you do—and why you love it so much. 🥹 We were all completely in awe of her. 🫶🏻

And can we take a moment to appreciate how beautifully she styled the entire look?

A N I K A 🫶🏻

This was such a special one.

Anika came to us for what she thought would be a fairly typical wedding dress consultation. We tried on all the classic bridal styles, and she looked absolutely beautiful in them. In fact, there was one gown in particular that we all loved on her, and we thought we’d found “the one.”

Then she showed me one of her inspiration photos.

She said she never imagined she’d find a dress like that to try on. It was different. It felt more like her. It wasn’t the typical wedding dress you find hanging on a rail.

The moment I saw the image, ideas started flowing. I imagined a particular bodice, paired with a skirt, and then we began draping a few elements she had dreamed about — a scarf, soft tulle panels, and unique details that brought the whole vision to life.

The result?

We all fell even more in love with this look than anything she had tried on earlier that day.

To say she looked spectacular would be an understatement. You could see her come alive in it. Her mom and sisters were in awe and immediately said, “That’s it. That’s Anika’s wedding dress. It’s her in every way.”

✨ THAT is exactly why we do what we do. ✨
