Real Madrid Are The Latest Team To Get A LFSTLR Collection From adidas

Following recent LFSTLR collections for Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Jamaica and Juventus, Real Madrid are the latest team to receive a complementary ‘LFSTLR’ collection from adidas Originals to go alongside their 2024/25 third kit.

Real Madrid are the latest adidas club to get a re-imagined fashion-focused collection for the 2024/25 season, drawing inspiration from the club’s Trefoil-emblazoned third shirt, like Bayern Munich and Manchester United before them. The collection takes a similar but noticeable darker tone to the “Charcoal Grey” used for the much-hyped third jersey, and it’s headlined by a short-sleeve LFSTLR Jersey which features the adidas Originals Trefoil logo alongside the Real Madrid crest.

As with other clubs, the body of the jersey features an all-over sublimated Trefoil graphic. The grey base is then bordered by white accents. Alongside the jersey, the collection features an anthem track top, track pants, fleece sweatshirt, hoodie, tees and shorts.

As well as Real Madrid, Juventus have also recently revealed a LFSTLR collection. Again, an eye-catching LFSTLR Jersey headlines the collection, which takes design cues from the club’s 2024/25 third jersey. It features the adidas Trefoil and a ‘70s-era Juventus badge while incorporating the club’s vibrant yellow and pink away kit colors on the sleeve’s stripes. Alongside the jersey, the collection features a track top, track pants, sweatshirt, tee and shorts.

Rodri deserves the Ballon d'Or! Almost-unbeatable midfielder makes Man City and Spain tick - their successes don't happen without 'perfect computer'

The 28-year-old was front and centre of his club and country's triumphs last season, and the incredible role he plays has rightly been acknowledged

"The best holding midfielders don't appear on the front pages of newspapers," said Pep Guardiola in February 2021. "They hide behind the team, but when the team plays well it is because they are outstanding." The Manchester City coach was referring to Rodri, who had only been in his side for one-and-a-half seasons at the time.

Those quotes came shortly after a rare fallow period for City, who had been left way behind Liverpool in the previous season's title race and had made a poor start to the 2020-21 campaign, dropping 16 points from their first 12 games. But they had since got back to their irresistible best, securing a 10th consecutive league win by thrashing Liverpool 4-1 at Anfield. And Rodri had been a key reason why.

Guardiola valued his work, but at the time the Spaniard's influence on City was understated. Indeed, Guardiola perhaps did not fully appreciate him either, as he left the Rodri on the bench for the Champions League final defeat by Chelsea at the end of that campaign.

But fast-forward almost four years and Rodri has been on the front pages of newspapers around the world. He might not get the same level of praise as team-mates Erling Haaland or Phil Foden, but his influence on Manchester City and Spain is now universally appreciated.

He does not "hide behind the team"; he is front of centre for club and country and last season won two of the most prestigious prizes in football, the Premier League title with City and the European Championship with Spain. And on Monday he got the true recognition he deserves by winning the 2024 Ballon d'Or.

Rodri was a serious contender for the 2023 Ballon d'Or, and he would well have deserved it after winning the treble with City and scoring the only goal in the Champions League final over Inter, the perfect response to being benched in Porto two years previously.

Arsenal & Aries Collaborate On First-Of-Its-Kind Streetwear Collection.

Arriving as the club’s first ever independent streetwear partnership and the brand’s first foray into the Premier League, Arsenal have launched a limited-edition collection with London-based luxury streetwear brand Aries.

Aries has been flirting with football for several years now, notably through collaborations with the likes of Umbro and AS Roma through New Balance. Now they take the next step in their relationship with the beautiful game, teaming up with Arsenal for a limited edition streetwear collection. The fashion-first collaboration brings together the worlds of football and culture to create an exclusive collection for the ‘Arsenal Faithful’.

The 26-piece collection features staple streetwear styles such as jersey tracksuits, graphic tees, football shirts, and nylon and jacquard denim sets, all reimagined and dedicated to Arsenal supporters. Typical Aries luxury pieces including a navy wool bomber jacket embroidered with the iconic Arsenal cannon emblazoned as a back print, accessories including caps football scarves and stickers, and exclusive Arsenal x Aries “A” jewellery also feature.

Bespoke graphics throughout the range include “1886”, the club’s founding year, “Arsenal”, rewritten in Aries typeface. Ares; Greek god of war and courage sits alongside influential figures from Arsenal’s rich history, legendary manager Herbert Chapman and life president Ken Friar, who are immortalised into the threads of the collection.
Having been included in the shoot for the collection, alongside fellow players Martin Odegaard, Alessia Russo, Bukayo Saka and Beth Mead, Declan Rice said: “This collection looks incredible. It’s another exciting moment that brings the Arsenal family together and brings our supporters closer to our heritage.

adidas Confirm The Long-Term Signing Of Lamine Yamal

Despite massive competition for his signature, adidas has today announced that Barcelona’s latest wonderkid, Lamine Yamal, has signed a long-term partnership with the brand.

Barcelona is well know for its conveyor belt of superstar talent, rising up through the ranks at La Masia, and 16-year-old Lamine Yamal is the latest product to emerge onto the global stage. He is widely regarded as one of the most promising young players in the world and has underlined his immense potential by becoming the youngest goalscorer for Barcelona and the youngest in history to score in La Liga, aged 16 years and 87 days, while he’s also currently the youngest player to play in the Champions League knockout phase. It’s clear to see why the brands were circling him.

He was subject of a bidding war between adidas, Nike, PUMA and New Balance this season, but it was the Three Stripes that finally sealed the deal. Lamine grew up in Rocafonda, 40 minutes from his club’s training ground, and understandably he has always idolised Lionel Messi. While he follows in the Argentinian’s footsteps on a club level, he now also does so with his brand affiliation, and fittingly, Yamal will wear the adidas X Crazyfast Messi ‘Spark Gen10s’ boots in both European and Domestic competition, making him the only player besides Messi himself to do so.

Talking of the new partnership, Yamal said, “I am proud to join adidas as they have always been the brand of the best. Growing up, I idolised Leo Messi, who has been with adidas since I first started watching football. I look forward to the many years ahead with adidas.”

Yamal is following in the footsteps of Messi in more ways than one, and switching Nike – the brand he has been wearing until recently – to adidas is yet another mirror to Messi's career.

Barcelona To Manufacture Its Own Kits?

Following continual reports of discontent between Barcelona and long-term kit sponsors, Nike, the Catalan club are now reportedly weighing up the possibility of producing their own kits in-house.

All is not well between Nike and Barcelona, that’s no secret. Despite one of the longest partnerships in club football, the pair have struggled on several unspecified points over the last few months, to the point where Barça are now considering terminating their contract with the Swoosh, which should last until June 30, 2028. This has obviously got rival brands circling, with PUMA said to be at the front of a group that contains the likes of New Balance, Hummel, and you’d imagine any brand that thought they’d have a sniff of a chance. But a recent report from Spanish media outlet, Sport, suggests that all these offers may be snubbed by the La Liga side, and they could instead opt to create their own label and produce their kits ‘in-house’.

Part of the reason for this potentially historic choice is reportedly a feeling of ‘good will’ towards Nike and all Barça have achieved with them in the 25 years together. This option would also avoid any sticky legal ramifications for the club in terminating its contract with the brand. But is that realistically enough to outweigh the vast sums that PUMA are said to be offering? Barcelona’s financial situation has been well documented over the last couple of seasons, so to turn down that kind of money would be either brave or foolish. Fine lines.

Atletico Madrid Reveal Limited Edition 23/24 Nike Fourth Shirt

Reflecting the spirit of Madrid nights, Atletico Madrid have revealed their new, limited edition 23/24 season fourth shirt from Nike. The shirt is set to get its debut this weekend, when Atletico travel to Almería.

Having not had a fourth shirt last season, Atletico Madrid are back on the quadruple kit line up as they reveal their latest jersey from Nike, which is set to debut when Simeone’s team head to Almería on Saturday, 24 February. The kit is a fairly simplistic affair, with a dee navy base colour joined by simple white accents in the branding, sponsor and club crest, creating a neat contrast.

The design is said to “express all the energy of a city that shines with lights and sounds,” featuring “details that give it a bold and distinctive character”. Now, you may struggle to see that in what is – let’s face it – a bespoke team wear colourway. But it is a clean, dark alternative strip, which sits alongside the club’s current trio, which are quite light by comparison, therefore offering the added option when on the road.

adidas Launch Bayern Munich 23/24 Third Shirt

While all the attention was on the Harry Kane transfer, adidas quietly dropped the Bayern Munich 23/24 third shirt, which they then debuted in the DFL Supercup match against RB Leipzig.

Been a big week for Bayern Munich, with their preparations for the 23/24 season all but complete with the addition of Harry Kane to their squad as a final piece in their jigsaw. They also competed their kit set for the season with the launch of their new third shirt from Adidas, revealed ahead of debuting it in their DFB Supercup game against RB Leipzig, a match they lost 3-0. Probably not the debut they would’ve wanted for the new kit.

In finely sweeping lines, sketches of Bavarian mountain flowers discreetly decorate the new off-white FC Bayern jersey, while, as a tribute to the foundation of the club 123 years ago, the historic eV crest is once again emblazoned in burgundy along with the chest branding and sponsor. The Three Stripes on the shoulders blend in with the off-white base.

FC Bayern executive vice-chairman Michael Diederich: "With this jersey for appearances in the Champions League, FC Bayern conveys to its fans the special interplay of home and history, of local roots and international appeal that makes the club so unique. The club is characterised by its tradition, which is appreciated throughout the football world - and the FC Bayern family is characterised by the fact that we always know where we come from, where we draw our passion from."

FC Bayern Frauen Reveal Their First-Ever Bespoke Jersey From adidas

For the first time in the team's 54 years of history, FC Bayern Frauen have revealed their own jersey. Designed exclusively for the side by Lena Gercke and produced by adidas, it will be worn in the match against Leipzig on 16 March.

For so long Bayern Munich’s women’s side has had to content itself with sharing the same kit designs as the men’s team, which, in itself, is not a bad thing necessarily, with the club showing off a unified front. But it is also nice to recognise that within a club, each team can have and like to express their different identities. Now, after 54 years of existence and in what is a major marker for the women’s game in Germany, Bayern Frauen get their own kit, with the design coming from the entrepreneur, fashion icon and model Lena Gercke with her brand LeGer by Lena Gercke.

The jersey sees a black base with peach-coloured accents featuring throughout, notably on the vertical pinstripes that lend the look a certain elegance.

Bianca Rech, Head of Department FC Bayern Women said of the kit: “The first jersey designed especially for us has a very central and emotional meaning. It's another groundbreaking day in the history of FC Bayern Frauen. A big thank you to everyone involved who developed this absolutely unique piece.”

That was followed up by Linda Dallmann, who commented: “We are delighted to be playing in a jersey designed specifically for us for the first time in the history of FC Bayern. This shows the growing importance of women's football. It would be nice to see as many of our fans as possible wearing this jersey in the stadium soon.”
