Hi all, hope you having a lovely 2022. I have been sew blessed. I am living I n a new home which is larger and safer . What I would like to chat about today is sewing machine needles. We have lovely fabric,pattern a sewing machine and all that goes into making a wonderful garment. Except you haven't changed your needle on your sewing machine. On average a sewing machine needle costs +- R10 each for a good quality needle. Additionally there are different needles for different types of fabric. Using the right needle makes sewing a lot easier and more efficient.

Happy 2022 to you all. I know that last year was challenging and this year will probably be as well. The amazing thing is although so many of us have lost loved ones and been ill the human spirit still rises with the dawning if a new day , week , month and year. We have all learnt to adapt to our new reality and will continue to do so. Please keep safe and well. Do the best we can to have a better day each day.

Hi 😊 The thing is with sewing it is a skill that needs to be done regularly. To keep your skill level sharp requires practice. One of the best ways to get motivated is to start a new project and to complete it and then return to your UFO's. It will give you impetus to complete those undone projects. Happy sewing.

Learning a new hobby can be exciting and frustrating at times. This is when you have to just push through. Whether it is an exercise program,a musical Instrument or sewing this applies.

Before I started sewing my own clothes I would happily buy my dresses off the rack at a size 12, 14 or 16. So buying size 14 was great. Then I started to buy patterns. Aha I would think there is a size 14 pattern and i would buy the pattern and all the necessary requirements to make up the garment. I would make my garment according to the pattern and guess what. It didn;t fit.How disappointing. The problem is measurements of your Bust, waist and hips need to be taken. When buying a pattern you need this measurement to find the correct size. The measurement on the pattern is always larger than on a bought garment,,Therefore a pattern from size 14 could easily end up to a size 18 or 20.
On the back your pattern the sizing is there to be able to check that you have the right size. Hope this assists you when choosing a pattern. Thanks all and have a creative sewing week
