One of the problems of our dreams are that they are most often all about us. Simply pursuing a dream will not give you the life you want. Instead Jesus says: “ Come follow me, and I’ll give you something you could have never dreamed.” ☀️

I remember praying to God back in 2018 when this whole journey started - acknowledging that I worked hard and did my absolute best, and from there on, whatever happens with this project is up to Him.
Three years went by and my biggest dreams were exceeded.
The Herder will always remind me to trust God’s timing & surrender to His plan.
I learned to believe that God planned out a path for each of us, and without asking too many questions, doubting or trying to control the direction we should just keep on walking in sheer confidence & trust!

Thank you to each and every one who contributed in making this dream a reality! Thank you to my amazing team, I could not have asked for better! Thank you to the amazing platforms for showcasing our work and honoring us with these awards. Thank you to all my lectures and mentors for guiding and preparing me. Thank you to everyone who dropped a supportive or congratulating DM/Message and ag, just stood by me from the very start. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🤗🤗
Your support, friendship and investment means the world to me.

Happy to end this journey and excited to start the next! 😍😍🙏🏼🙏🏼

The story behind Look 2, The Herder | A collection that tells a story.
This look was inspired by the icy winter’s we experience in the Karoo.
Image 1: The final look captured by the one and only , worn with accessories (my favourite local jeweler) and a hand woven Mohair headscarf!
Image 2: An icy Karoo morning. It rarely rains here during winter, but when it does, the remaining rain drops on the shrubs turn into frost during the evenings. By morning the frosted landscape was covered in fog, eerie and mystical!
Image 3: The fashion illustration, original sketch, samples and planning.
Image 4: The top, I hand felted, finished product seen in Image 5.
Image 6 & 7: The technical drawings of every individual garment. On the back of the coat I felted the outline of trees into the ‘ground’. Symbolically referring to my roots, and to always stay grounded in them.
Image 8: The colours and structure of the frosted Karoo shrub can be seen in the pattern of the coat.
Image 9: The back of the apron skirt, and chiffon pintucks in the front.
Image 10: The Karoo landscape, clearly fell in love with the subtle pastel colour palette .

Image 4: The top was created with Merino wool, felted into pure silk. This is a tedious process; you physically take the raw combed wool and rub it into the silk, finished product seen in Image 5.
Image 6 & 7: The technical drawings of every individual garment. On the back of the coat I needle felted ( poked wool into the fabric with a needle) the outline of trees into the ‘ground’. Symbolically referring to my roots, and to always stay grounded in them.
Image 8: The colours and structure of the frosted Karoo shrub can be seen in the pattern of the coat.
Image 9: The back of the apron skirt. The chiffon pin tucks (pleats) on the front of the skirt, I did by hand - this took ages!
Image 10: The Karoo landscape, clearly fell in love with the subtle pastel colour palette .
