PRESS STATEMENT
MUNKOMBWE KENNEDY (MK) COMMENDS GOVT ON ZAMBIA–NAMIBIA ROAD WORKS
Hakainde Hichilema Romeo Kangombe
Mr Munkombwe Kennedy, wishes to commend the Government of the Republic of Zambia for responding to the long-standing calls by the people of Southern and Western Provinces to have the Zambia–Namibia Road worked on.
For many years our people in the two regions have asked for this road because it is more than just tar and gravel. It is a road of trade, jobs, health, and unity.
Why this road matters:
1. Development for Southern & Western: Better roads mean cheaper transport for farmers, traders, and businesses in Livingstone, Kazungula, Sesheke and beyond.
2. Cross-border growth: A working Zambia–Namibia road opens markets for our goods in Walvis Bay and brings tourists, investors, and opportunities to both countries.
3.Doorstep impact: In Maramba and other border communities, this means more movement of goods, more jobs for our youth, and better access to services.
We thank the government for listening to the people. This is leadership that shows it is paying attention to the doorstep issues affecting ordinary citizens.
As a community, we pledge to support the project and protect the infrastructure once completed. We also call for local contractors and local labor to be prioritized so that the benefits stay with our people.
“When roads work, people work. When people work, nations grow.”
Together, Zambia and Namibia will benefit from this important link.
