Lusaka Woman Arrested After She Was Found With Acid on a Bus
August 20,2025-The Zambia Police Service wishes to inform the public that we have arrested and detained a female suspect in connection with the subject offence.
Today August 20, 2025 at 08:00 hours, Lusaka Central Police Station received a report of Possession of Offensive Weapons or Materials/Unlawful Acts Causing Harm. The incident is reported to have occurred today August 20, 2025 around 04:00 hours along Cairo Road in Lusaka.
The report was made by Male Davies Musonda aged 62 of House No. 746, Matero East, Lusaka, a Bus Driver for Royal Africa Company based in Kitwe. He reported that an unknown passenger on his Scania Marcopolo Bus bearing Registration AJE 6880 in which he had 58 passengers destined for Nakonde, had in his/her possession a 2.5 litres container of suspected acid and a gas cylinder with a cable attached to it. The said container reportedly leaked, spilling its contents onto unsuspecting passengers who sustained burns.
The victims have been identified as follows:
1.Male Lomazani Soul, 59, of Kanyama – sustained burns on the right arm.
2.Male Emmanuel Chileshe, 25, of John Leing, Lusaka – sustained burns on the head and both arms.
3.Female Esther Makumbi, 40, of Nakonde – sustained burns on both arms.
4.Female Esnart Mumba, 26, of Mpika – sustained burns on the left arm and leg.
5.Female child Thresa Mumba, 1 year 9 months, of Mpika – sustained burns on the left arm.
6.Female Patience Namwayi, 15, of John Leing, Lusaka – sustained burns on the buttocks.
7.Male Kelvin Soneka, 33, of Nakonde – sustained burns.
Brief facts of the matter are that while driving along Cairo Road, the bus driver heard passengers shouting that an unknown liquid was streaming down from the inside roof of the bus, burning them. Upon stopping the vehicle, he discovered that one passenger had loaded the container with suspected acid and a gas cylinder which were leaking. The driver immediately drove the bus to L
