HOW TO START A BUSINESS FROM SCRATCH
There are three things that are rare in life; patience, capital and time.
Starting your own business demands that you be a patient person but also allows you to grow at your own pace.
1. KNOW YOUR GIFT
Each one of us is gifted. Find out what you are gifted with and grow that. The greatest capital is personal convictions that can result in an amazing business.
2. SIMPLICITY
One of the biggest airlines in Zambia today started as a simple single plane many years ago. Today this airline is growing daily. Those who are willing to look stupid while pushing simplistic ideas will one day be the one’s smiling.
3. PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS
Great business model must always solve problems. A few years ago I wanted to start a business that supported families by supplying water to their homes. Simple business and a daily need.
4. TEAM DEVELOPERS
Those who have built amazing businesses have great abilities to deliver team spirit and support. No one wins alone. The sooner you can develop a team, the quicker you start smiling.
5. DISCIPLINE
Running a business demands discipline. You can’t make money and backslide. I know people who sleep out over $200. You get $200 (K5,200) and you even spend the night out like a prodigal child. What will happen when you have $10,000?
6. KEEP GROWING
Running a business is about reinventing yourself. The lodge I spent my night at in Livingstone this week was terrible. I can tell the owner of that lodge is tired. He is just milking a cow but won’t feed the cow nor take it to the vet.
Never reach a place where you kill your goose 🪿 just to retrieve egges from its stomach.
