Zanorashe fashion that meets the needs of the modern day Zimbabwean woman

Tatenda Chantelle Chidzidzi (b. 1988) from Harare, Zimbabwe, completed her Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design and Retailing at Limkokwing University in 2011 in Malaysia, as well as her Master of Arts in Sustainability in Fashion at ESMOD Berlin in Germany. Chidzidzi has worked as a freelance designer, and been building her brand, Zanorashe, in Zimbabwe. Growing up in a diplomatic family, her cult

ure and heritage are very important to her and expressing these through fashion is a major goal for her. Chidzidzi has one daughter, who is her inspiration to change the world, and was a motivation for her studying sustainability in fashion. "The of aim creating the Zanorashe brand was to bring traditional Zimbabwean crafts and design aesthetic into the 21st century. I believe sustainability is not only about the environment, but about continuous innovation and developing a system that will make a positive impact in society. Many artists are employed informally and never realize their full potential as they are limited to being road-side vendors. A vast amount of talent goes unnoticed due to either lack of exposure or limited creative development. This talent and creativity can be used and developed in fashion in many ways, thus creating job opportunities and a general improvement of lifestyle and sustainable development. The richness of the crafts and culture of Zimbabwe together with the talent of its artisans, served as an inspiration to create a brand that celebrates these on a day-to-day basis, through everyday fashion that meets the needs of the modern day Zimbabwean woman."

From idea → sketch → print. ✍🏾

The conceptualization phase is where the vision begins — experimenting with forms, patterns, and possibilities before the final garment exists.

Every collection starts with a line on paper.
