Since the beginning of dogstar, I have had boutiques in quite a few different locations in and around Brisbane.

From starting in Fortitude Valley underneath the Zoo, to Southbank, Paddington and Indooroopilly.

Some of the stores stay in an area longer than others, but each one has been special to me

After spending several years at the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, I feel it may finally be time for us to move to a new location later this year.

We first moved into the Indooroopilly boutique during the COVID period, after closing our Melbourne store. At the time, it was only meant to be temporary, but somehow five years have passed since then.

The Indooroopilly boutique has been very good to us, and I truly appreciate all the support and kindness we have received there over the years. Many beautiful customers, conversations and memories have been created in that space.

Recently, I have started feeling drawn towards a quieter street-front store experience again — somewhere with a little more atmosphere and character.

I still feel very connected to the Indooroopilly / Toowong area, although I have also become interested in areas such as New Farm.

For those of you who visit our Indooroopilly boutique — do you enjoy the current location?

Also, where do you personally enjoy shopping in Brisbane? And when you shop, what feels most important to you?

I would genuinely love to hear your thoughts and feelings as I slowly think about the future home of dogstar.

Worn by those who move between worlds.

The Tsukuro Coat has no fixed form. An inner body zips close. From it, a floor-length shell falls open — two raw-edged straps extending like the garment is still becoming itself.

Cross the straps high. Tie them low. Let them hang. Close the coat or leave it open to the atmosphere. Every configuration a different silhouette. Every silhouette a different version of you.

The Furu Patch Pants draw from boro — the Japanese tradition of mending worn cloth, of finding beauty in repair.

Clusters of fabric patches are applied across the legs in the sashiko style.

On the back, a vintage Japanese woodblock-inspired illustration. A hand-stitched nod to Edo-period craft and the culture that gave boro its meaning.

Each time I see Jackie and Russ, I notice their quiet, unspoken gestures.

They feel like something that has been naturally shaped over many years.

There is no sense of effort or imbalance.

Jackie seems to understand Russ’s movements and what he might feel next, gently supporting him without hesitation.

Russ, in his quiet way, watches over Jackie with warmth.

It feels like time itself has settled between them.

As we grow older, we slowly begin to find ways of living and being that truly suit us.

Our bodies and minds change over time.

And within those changes, we start to question what beauty means for us.

Perhaps it is not something we create, but something that naturally emerges through the way we care for others.

In small gestures, in quiet understanding, in connections that do not need words.

Watching Jackie and Russ, I feel that their presence is shaped by the time they have shared. It is natural, unforced, and deeply connected.

As I grow older, I hope to build a relationship like theirs — one that quietly supports and holds space for each other.
