A friend gave me this beautiful old quilt after it had been serving a rather undignified second career as a MOVING BLANKET.
Obviously, I couldn’t leave it like that.
What I perhaps didn’t fully appreciate was just how much hand sewing this rescue mission was going to involve.
And, as you’ll hear, I HATE hand sewing.
Unfortunately, somewhere along the way this stopped being a little repair project and became a personal vendetta. This quilt WILL be finished.
This is my first time repairing an antique quilt, though, so I’m very much learning as I go. If you’ve done this before, I would genuinely love your advice — techniques, things I should avoid, or things you wish you’d known before your first one.
Supportive suggestions are very welcome. Telling me I should have left well enough alone is probably accurate, but we’re well past that point now.
