One artwork, worn three ways. The tee on a Tuesday, the tee and scarf together, the scarf on its own with a knit.

Every scarf starts as an original artwork by Suzi. Some of those artworks also become tees, so the image you wear around your neck can be the one you wear on your body. It’s wearable art in two forms.

If you’re wearing the matching scarf and t-shirt together, keep everything else plain. The artwork is already repeating itself, so it doesn’t need help.

You don’t have to give up black. Change one piece and leave the rest.

An all black outfit is easy, and that’s exactly why it disappears. Nobody remembers it, including you.

The fix is smaller than people expect. Swap the black jacket for a purple one and keep everything else exactly as it was. If you’ve wondered how to add colour to black without starting over, this is the whole method.

Then the scarf. Lucy has the black and the purple in the same artwork, so the swap looks planned rather than borrowed.

Dark purple works like a neutral. The bright one belongs near your face.

If you’ve been trying to work out how to wear purple and it keeps looking like too much, start darker. A deep purple base, almost head to toe, behaves the way navy did last week.

A light pink blouse underneath breaks up a dark purple outfit. Black belt and shoes keep it grounded.

The brighter purple goes in the scarf, close to your face, where a small amount does the most. Tutti Matti repeats the dark shade too, so it connects to the outfit instead of fighting it.

Purple has an undertone, and the undertone decides what it goes with.

This corduroy leans warm, so it wants warm company. A brown silk blouse, brown boots, a brown belt. Black would have flattened the suit. Purple and brown together make the colour look deeper.

If you’ve ever wondered what colours go with purple, start by checking which way yours leans. Warm purple goes with brown, camel and rust. Cool purple sits better beside grey and navy.

Then the scarf. Watching TV has the purple and the brown in the same artwork, so the suit and the brown read as one decision.

A whole week of navy, and I meant every word.

Navy is still the most underrated neutral in your closet. But every so often the same suit comes in a colour that asks a little more of you, and you say yes. This purple suit is that colour.

Same cut, same tailoring, a completely different mood. That’s how Navy Week ends.

One bright piece, one neutral all around it. That’s the whole trick.

Day four of Navy Week. The sapphire pants bring the colour, and navy does the rest: navy boots and a navy henley unbuttoned all the way down. Navy, sapphire, navy. It’s the easiest way to style bright pants without owning a dozen pieces in the same colour.

Swap the henley for a long, fuzzy cashmere cardigan and the proportions change completely. A lucite belt gives either one some definition, and the Free Time scarf pulls the navy and the sapphire together.

Half a suit is still a whole outfit.

Day three of Navy Week. Yesterday’s navy corduroy pants stay, the jacket goes, and a long navy cashmere cardigan takes its place, topped with a navy faux fur vest. It’s the easiest way to style a suit casually without buying anything new.

One navy outfit, three textures: corduroy, cashmere and fur. The textures keep the navy from going flat, and the Style Icon scarf brings in the black, same as yesterday.

One colour head to toe looks purposeful when the texture does the work.

Day two of navy week, and the navy outfit starts with a light navy mesh base layer under a full navy corduroy suit. The ribs on the corduroy catch the light, so one colour reads as several shades. That’s how a monochrome outfit stops looking like a uniform.

Then the scarf. style icon brings in black, the one colour the suit doesn’t have, and all that navy starts to look intentional.
