A plain garment supplied as workwear may not automatically qualify as a uniform for tax purposes.

When a company logo is not embroidered or printed onto the garment, a permanently sewn-in tax tab can identify it as part of the company uniform.
Ordinary everyday clothing does not become a uniform simply because employees are required to wear it. The clothing needs to be recognisable as company uniform, HMRC guidance confirms that a detachable badge alone is not enough.

Tax tabs offer a discreet way to permanently identify garments while keeping the overall appearance clean and understated.
