The Only Constant
Life has a way of teaching us that nothing in this world is truly permanent.
People change.
Feelings change.
Promises fade.
Relationships that once felt unbreakable can slowly become distant.
Someone can make you feel like you are their whole world today, and tomorrow, they may treat you as though you were never important at all.
And sometimes, that change hurts more than losing the relationship itself.
But Krishna gives us a deeper understanding of life through the Bhagavad Gita.
He reminds us that everything material is temporary. Happiness and sorrow, gain and loss, union and separation—all of them come and go like changing seasons.
“The unreal has no permanent existence, and the eternal never ceases to be. So perhaps we should not ask temporary things to give us permanent peace.
People are allowed to change.
Some will stay for years.
Some will stay for a season.
Some will leave without giving you an explanation.
But your worth does not disappear because someone’s feelings changed.
Your peace does not have to disappear because someone’s presence did.
And your heart does not have to become bitter simply because someone failed to remain.
Krishna teaches us to place our deepest shelter in Him rather than in things that are constantly changing.
In Bhagavad Gita 9.22, Krishna promises that for those who are devoted to Him, He preserves what they have and carries what they lack. And in Bhagavad Gita 9.31, He gives a beautiful assurance:
“My devotee never perishes.”
That doesn’t mean life will never take anything away from us.
It means that nothing life takes away can take Krishna away from us.
So let people change.
Let relationships take their natural course.
Let those who choose to leave, leave.
Don’t destroy your peace trying to hold together something Krishna may be allowing you to outgrow.
Love people.
Respect people.
Be grateful for those who stay.
But don’t make any temporary person the permanent home of your heart.Because when everything around you changes, Krishna remains.
When people stop choosing you, Krishna doesn’t.
When the world becomes unfamiliar, Krishna remains your shelter.
