Many of you may remember the struggle I went through nearly 4 years ago of trying to find a reasonably affordable flat to rent that would take me and my Perwinkle 🐱 (pre landlords couldn't refuse pets!) We finally found the perfect home and we've loved being here but it's time to move on. The move is happening in just under 3 weeks and I'd like to clear as much stock as I can beforehand and then start a fresh once I'm settled!

I'll also be moving out of Reading. Not far, as my full time job is still at The Hexagon, but except for uni I've never lived outside of Reading! I'm technically still in the RG though 😁💙

Looking forward to this new chapter x

After working with UV resin for 8 years (!!!) I finally realised I could decant some into an empty (must be opaque) nail varnish bottle to gloss my finished pieces! Because the brush stays in the bottle, there is no need to clean it 🥳

Bonus tip: apply UV resin to your polymer clay pieces before removing them from the baking tile, then you don't need to worry holding them in place! 🧡

Hot tip: dip your polymer clay cutter in some cornflower to prevent the clay getting stuck in the details of the cutter! This will give you a clean crisp finish just like on these Mediterranean tiles 💙☀️

The process of the Grand Floridian Mary Poppins paintings I did for my bestie 🩷

The originals on the wall in our hotel room that she fell in love with

I started by doing a quick mini version in a sketchbook to test colours. I also hadn't picked up watercolour paints in a very long time - they've also never been my strongest medium so I needed some practice!

Then onto the base layers of paint on canvases after sketching out the shapes. I worked in so many light layers of paint on these as I didn't want to make any monumental mistakes

Slides 6 and 7 are where I really felt the pieces coming together and I knew I wasn't far all adding the final detail layers

I used a white acrylic marker during the final stages at add back in the white highlights. Everything else was watercolour

I finally sealed the paintings with a glossy spray fixative to protect the pieces from any light damage over time

I'm very happy with how they turned out and more importantly so happy that Em loved them! 🩷

It's been a long old time since I picked up a paintbrush, but I knew I wanted to replicate these paintings that were in our room in the Grand Floridian Hotel in Florida for my best friend as soon as she saw them! Nobody is a bigger fan of Mary Poppins than her. Happy birthday Em 🩷
